Strengths:
Fortune is a talented swingman with a high upside. He has a solid skill base with a good looking stroke from behind the three-point line and the handle to get himself into the lane and create his own shot. Physically, he has a good natural build and is a high level athlete who uses his body to finish and is capable of playing high above the rim. Defensively, he has all the tools to blossom into an excellent on the ball defender thanks to his length and lateral quickness.
Weaknesses:
Maturity and experience are the things Fortune needs most right now as he looks to turn his undeniable potential into production. While he certainly needs to continue to get stronger and work on his overall skill set, most important is that he develops a mentality where he doesn't take any plays off and commits to impacting the game as much as possible on both ends of the floor. Defensively especially, he needs to develop a much more consistent approach to the game.
Bottom Line:
Fortune is a skilled swingman with the basketball skills and athletic gifts to have a very bright future playing this game. With increased maturity he should be able to develop into a player who is able to change the game on both ends of the floor.

Known as a clutch shooter, last season was highlighted by 4-point plays he converted in the crunch during a double-OT loss to Villanova and a vital late season win over Marquette.

For the Buffs, we're looking at a guy who in a lot of ways is a bigger Ski with more range and consistency on his jumper with less "break your ankles" ability. Like Ski, he's got the clutch gene.

This is a big "get" for Tad that is going to do so much to soften the blow of losing an all-time Buff like Ski to graduation after this season.

So this basically means a one-player class for 2015 barring any attrition since the only scholarship available will be from Ski, correct? Gonna be awfully top-heavy with upperclassmen in the 15-16 season.

Unless Scott declares for the draft, someone transfers or we have some other attrition.

We were one under the scholarship limit heading into this year. Fortune fills that, so it now becomes easy math. Ski is our only senior, so we are certain of one scholarship opening for the 2015 class.

That works. Not even considering the highest rated recruit, a 6'2" SO.

I sure hope you're right. A Walker/Fortune combo wouldn't be that far off the Boatwright/Hemsley dreams I was having a year or so ago. The silence has been a little deafening recently.

Walker won't make a decision for a bit, but he is coming to Boulder for an OV.

Agreed. Fortune has a little less upside but looks like a solid catch-n-shoot 3 & D SG. Going off of sports-reference, his defensive win shares actually rated higher than his offense. 20% turnover rate is the most concerning, but I do like his 55% true shooting percentage.

And once Tad gets them in for a visit, he's got a pretty good batting average. I'm sure Spencer had a little to do with that success as well though. Who wouldn't want to play with the Mayor after meeting him? Really hoping Tad can pull this one out.
 
I am really excited about Fortune....a proven college performer.....got some clutch gene in him and can shoot the rock....plus will get a year on the scout team making our team better in practice!!!!!
 
Very nice pickup. Should have a good chance to compete for a starting spot a year from now.

Do wonder if CU, with one scholarship remaining, would take a Shamet or Harwell commitment. Or will they wait for Walker to make a decision?
 
Gotta love his progression from Frosh to Soph. Improved in basically every category, probably most importantly shooting percentage (field and 3 pt). He does seem like a better shooter than Ski but I agree Ski is probably a better scorer getting to the rim. Tad does not skip a beat and always seems to have a plan.
