I really hate the Denver sports media

I wish they wouldn't talk about anything except the Broncos, because for the 2% of the time they try to do so they end up talking out their asses. Particularly bad when they try to talk college sports. Even worse when they try to talk recruiting.

Today, Rick Lewis (ASU fan) and his partner Dave "I wish I was Angie's List" Logan decided to have a conversation about CU football recruiting in Colorado.

Logan, who has had players signed by CU the past couple years and many of his guys offered, decided to put out there that the Buffs are too slow in offering Colorado high school players. WTF?

MacIntyre, despite the fact that the state puts out about 6 Power-5 signees a year, made one of his first acts as CU coach to have his assistants canvas the state and meet every high school coach. CU has offered just about everyone who has signed with a P5 program, was often in very early, and has gone out of its way to even take chances on guys who didn't have offers from peers.

All stimulated by someone bringing up that a WR from Pomona got his 1st offer from Washington State -- which makes total sense because Pospisil was on the same team as Max Borghi, a RB who CU offered early, gave CU a verbal commitment, and then flipped to Washington State because someone in-state I won't name stabbed the program in the back trying to get him to go to a different Pac-12 school.

wow! Let's talk about Borghi's teammate, Moretti. not to mention stenstrom, Stanley, Evans, and Davis. What an uninformed comment.

The Denver sports media, for the most part, has sucked since the 70's when Woody Paige rolled into town. I always find/found it cringeworthy when any of them talked CU football. Including Big Al and Irv & Joe. So superficial, stupid and uninformed.

I did glean this from the links above:

Can’t wait for this comeback. Truly remarkable how this kid has recovered and is getting stronger faster than anyone could of imagined. Determination goes a long way!!

Logan routinely talks positive about CU as well. He was on last night and giving Ballage a hard time for not being a Buff. A little crticism is not a bad thing. It’s not like CU is doing everything perfect.

And Logan and McChesney have a vested interest in promoting Colorado high school kids. More so than pushing them to CU only. I’m sure there are instances where CU didn’t offer as early as some other schools. Not a big deal, but also not a big deal to remind CU to take notice.

I’m sure there are in-State guys Logan feels like CU is late to jump on. I also feel like he very well could be generalizing about CU recruiting over the past 12 years, not necessarily right now during MM era. There really isn’t a precedent for him to get upset with Macs recruiting efforts in the state.

As to Pospisil... He is a fine player, but does he really stack up with guys like Lavonte Shenault or Kyle Ford in the 19 class?

Ches will always be like that, he runs a gym where he sees kids that work their ass off and he has to promote them. I thought the Logan comments were odd though, CU has done a fantastic job with Creek the last couple of years and Logan was actually supporting those kids going there due to the new coaching staff and commitment the school had shown. Just a weird thing all around IMO and a random time to bring it up considering the Buffs are going so well on the 2019 front with Evans and Davis committed and a very very early offer to McCaffery when he was a sophomore.

Woody was never a CU fan but he was fair and unlike many did put in the effort to be knowledgeable. He went to games, he interviewed coaches and players. He recognized CU for its achievements but also called them out on their failures. Unlike others he didn't make-up or exaggerate the failures but he put light on them.

The problem in the Denver media is a combination of the Kizla types who just made stuff up or who twisted it beyond recognition and the current bunch who don't know that football (or anything else) exist if it isn't wearing blue and orange and practicing at Dove Valley. Even Logan, Big Al, PRich, etc. who are former CU players don't put in the effort to know what is going on up there.

Also don't forget the work Woody did in reminding the fusker fans that their little party against CU was no longer going on. kNU fans still hate him with a passion which is enough to make him worth liking.

Constructive criticism is welcome. Pulling allegations out of your ass that aren't true and extending a fallacy is bull**** and irresponsible.

Logan's got a vested interest here. Unlike McChesney, it's not publicly in your face.

Big Al is quick to admit when he's not following something closely at CU or doesn't really know. Doesn't matter, though, because his peers are so amazingly ignorant that he is turned to as the expert on everything CU because he's the CU guy within the Broncos fraternity. Same thing happens with Logan. Of course, with Logan there was the added ridiculousness of every time CU had a coaching vacancy the Denver sports media would start talking it up as if Logan was a candidate because he checked all their boxes: he went to CU, he is a coach, and he can talk intelligently about the Broncos.

What I'm sick of is on the fan they are at the senior bowl. Not one discussion about any CU, CSU or AFA kids...not one. It is gawd awful in this town.

Because none of the CU players in the senior bowl are QB's, which the Broncos desperately need.

Uhhhh there also aren't any players from CU playing in the Senior Bowl. Gallup is the only local kid and they talked about him a ton.

Well if it is true that Logan coaches with the father of the Pomona WR recently offered by WSU then it makes a lot more sense.

Well that shouldn't stop them...lol...my bad. They've been talking about Colo kids who didn't go to college in state too.

The only reason the Fan is at the Senior Bowl is because the Broncos staff requested and was able to coach Mayfield, Josh Allen, and Luke Falk, and that's the biggest storyline for them locally.

On a side note, completely unrelated to the Denver Media ranting... I like how the QB needy Broncos are coaching the North team with those 3 QBs, while the South team, coached by the Texans who aren't in the market for a QB, gets Kyle Lauletta (Richmond), Kurt Benkert (UVA), Brandon Silvers (Troy), and Mike White (Western Kentucky). I've also heard that the way the Broncos are conducting the practices is basically centered around QB evaluation, while the Texans are running practices with the QBs as an afterthought.

Actually heard the Broncos staff is running it like an actual game week prep and the Texans are more like training camp.

Pospisil looks like the real deal, but our WR recruiting better be tight with the offers right now!

No where do I see exactly what Dave Logan said, is that quoted somewhere?

Reading through Lewis's tweets again, it sounds like Logan said it on their show and then when Lewis got that tweet about Pospisil he jumped on it as reinforcing the gospel according to Logan.

Ratings = Advertising = Revenue. They have to chase ratings to stay in business.

Are you really surprised that in this particular market that college sports takes a back seat?

I do compare this to Miami where The U got petty equal coverage in the papers as the Dolphins did. But when it came to talk radio it was Dolphins first, Heat second, The U, everything else.

As for good coverage of recruiting, thats a really niche specialty subject. So called experts are hard to find and the attention given by fans are only by the most die hard.

Right. So they shouldn't try. One thing to have an expert guest on to talk about it. But for our local talking heads to do it and pretend authority is a joke.
