Reported Offers: COLORADO, Hawaii, Houston, ULL, La tech, Ole Miss, Nevada, New Mexico, North Texas, South Carolina, SMU, Texas State, Tulane, UCF, UTSA, FCS offers

He has recently picked up offers from CU, Ole Miss and South Carolina. Presumably why he decommitted from UTSA. He would be a solid get for CU

I am sure lots of P5 teams have seen him and that is not much of a list. Either way, it is sad that we are now in the area where this would be a solid pick up.

I don't know, he seems to have played exclusively Tackle in high school, but is projecting as more of a Guard in college, so maybe teams have been waiting to pull the trigger until there's more film? Maybe competition questions? I mean, he's 6'4"/6'5" 300+ and looks to be able to move pretty well. Maybe raw fundamentals? I don't know, he's clearly not a Tier 1 blue chip recruit, but seems to be getting some good P5 attention recently which is the important part.

Probably will play both guard and tackle in College. Could be a long term Right tackle prospect that can also play left tackle in a pinch.

Think you may be on to something here.

Also with no camps this season P5 teams may be a little hesitant until they can verify measurements. He is listed at 6'4" which is fine for a guard but marginal for a P5 OT. There have though been a lot of cases where the listed 6'4" was actually something like a 6'1" or 6'2" which means no tackle and shorter than preferred for guard.

Not saying this is the case but it is something the schools would want to somehow verify before offering.

Trying to remember the OL that Hawkins signed who was listed at 6'4" and when he got here was barely over 6'.

Things I see from his highlights
Pros:
1. He moves extremely well at 300+
2. Finishes blocks
3. Strong
4. Plays to the whistle
Cons:
1. Plays extremely high
2. Raw with his technique in both the run and pass blocking
3. Looks like he relies on strength too much at times in pass set (again technique)

Overall, I think he could be blossom at G with coaching. I like the kid and think he’s a solid prospect. We missed on some guys we thought we could get early. He could be nasty down the road.

Cons- Not athletic enough to play left tackle. Has bad foot work or bad technique.

Can coach up his technique. Remember he is still a high school player. Need to project the kind of player he will be in 2 or 3 years when we are evaluating OL in high school.

I like his toughness and strength. I think he will eventually play both guard and RT.

He looks like a guard to me, maybe a tackle down the road. Definitely needs to work on pad level, he raises up pretty quickly, that can be fixed though. You can get away with that high school, not at a P5 school. Like his tenacity, size, movement, and finishing ability.

 How did we lose a recruit to UTSA?
A good question. His profile states that he also has offers from Old Miss and South Carolina so we wouldn't be the only P5 school he is turning down.

He was committed to UTSA early on before the higher profile schools started pay attention and extend offers. It may very well be that he decided that his original decision was the right one and he was going to stick with it.

I believe FSU was also an offer. I wouldn’t put it past this one being Covid related. He’s very familiar with UTSA and maybe hasn’t been able to get the same comfort level with other programs during the dead period.
