USC ALMOST A Game Thread - Covid Cancelled

The only two teams ahead of them they might have a shot against are Iowa State and Cincinnati. Everybody else would blow them out.

This might be one of the dumber things I've read in the 10 years I've been posting here, Medford.
I understand your long-standing, ridiculous hatred of mid majors, but you're wrong on this, 100%

If you think Cincy is one of the teams they'd stand a chance against, it shows your mid major bias. We already know you don't know what a good team like in general. You private think CU wouldn't get beat by 35 by byu. Spoiler...we would.

I’m just wondering what you’re basing the opinion on. I don’t doubt that they’re a good team, but nothing except beating up on mediocre small schools suggests they would do the same week in/week out against a P5 schedule.

Teams I would comfortably bet BYU against

aTm
UGA
Northwestern (my multiple touchdowns)
Miami
OU
Indiana

Getting the feeling none of you have actually watched BYU. BYU was feeling good about an 11 win season with their original schedule. The mid major hate on here is insane.

Regardless of what we think the committee will not put in BYU of a G5 . They have no chance this year with their schedule (which was completely out of their control). They probably had a small chance with the original schedule if they went undefeated and multiple P5 conferences had no clear leader. BYU is a damn good team, as is Cincinnati. I would have loved to see BYU's original schedule as that would have told us a lot.

Because. contract. tracing. isn't. done.

Can you read?
You obviously can’t read. Contact tracing is done, the player was one the plane with the rest of the team. Contract tracing would mean everyone on the team most likely. It is all about weather local officials consider Saturday a contact since the player tested negative that same day.

Considering UcLA was able to travel to Boulder despite one player testing positive the game likely won’t be cancelled unless more positives come up in the next couple of days. Wilner isn’t talking about that because it hasn’t happened yet.

Source? They announced the positive test this morning and USC is doing everything virtually until they're told otherwise.

I thought the UCLA person was someone within the football department but not a player or coach?

After thinking more about numbers of games, we SHOULD have played this past weekend!!! Even if it meant late Sunday night against CSU or whomever. Too few games are being played and COVID is running wild. We worked hard and are COVID clear and should have played.
Stupid

Sitake was full of crap talking about the Washington game! They just needed to get up to Seattle and they chose not to, or they do not have good enough testing

if usc gets called off do we take a midnight rogue airplane trip to Provo? Big ole middle finger to Larry Scott? BYU is to scarred to go on the road, and that win will take us into the top #25.

They haven’t identified the USC player yet, but reports are that it is a starter that travelled with the team last week. Awaiting more specific PCR tests on rest of team to know if any more cases.

BYU has no interest in this smoke.

Because they're the one program who might be more delusional than Nebraska is. They're at #14 in the CFP-behind two loss Oklahoma. They've got a game (San Diego State on Dec. 12) left. They have ZERO shot at a New Year's Six game unless they find a way to get a game against a Power 5 opponent done. They've already passed on Washington because they wanted to see what the committee thought of them.

If the USC game gets cancelled and RG goes to Tom Holmoe and offers a game this weekend here in return for a game there in a few years and they don't take it..........thats an admission they're not relevant.

Yes. I've spent a fair amount of time tracking their testing after I saw the positive-this isn't a given until we get on a plane in my mind.
Okay but that has nothing to do with contact tracing. They know the players were exposed to a someone who later tested positive and they are now going through their daily testing requirements to see if any other cases pop up. They aren’t waiting on anything really.

Yes-they are. LA county rules say if you come into contact with somebody who is positive, you have to quarantine for 14 days. The player in question is symptomatic for COVID, which makes this even more of problem for USC the next two weeks.

This is a major city in the same state that forced a cancellation on Cal for 1 asymptomatic test.

Listening to HCKD on Buffs PrimeTime and he mentioned they just moved Alec over seemingly because of the injuries. Apparently he played TE in high school.

Nico Magri got moved over 3-4 weeks ago.

Bye week came at a good time to get all those guys more practice time.
Keeping our 2021 TE recruits will be a priority.
