Official 2023-24 MBB Season Thread

Other Pac-12 Draft Decisions:

UCLA got mixed results: Bona is staying, Clark, Bailey is leaving think they might fall a little next year with a bunch of unproven guys but Cronin is tough

ASU: Frankie Collins returning, Bagley leaving (5 games in two years)

USC: Boogie Ellis is returning

WSU: Gueye staying in draft

Zona- Tubelis staying in draft

Pecking order next year will be interesting. Zona and USC seem to be at the top. UCLA seems like it might be a little down with unproven players. I feel like CU can really compete. Think top 4 is reasonable. Utah will be improved, I think Oregon will too but not to levels it was previous.

Not to diminish the importance of the NCAAs, but this also reflects the notion we're the top team in the confernece. I'll take that!
I'm uncomfortable with the notion that we're the front-runner, and I disagree with it. A lot are adding spice to our profile because I guess they didn't think TDS was coming back? Either way, I think we're top-4, but saying we're a front-runner is premature.

- Zona -- addition by subtraction with punting Kriisa into Appalachia, and I like who they're bringing in. Getting Larson back is massive.
- USC -- could be a monster with their adds to Boogie -- huge frosh class, Rodman is a nice piece, and getting rid of Peterson is another case of addition by subtraction.
- UCLA -- I could see them stepping back -- huge losses with the 3 seniors, Bailey and Clark. The adds are solid, and Bona is a beast, but I think they're a step behind the other 3.

This is a good question. Last season they didn't have a locker room leader, e.g. a McKinley Wright or a Battey. Wonder if and who will be that leader(s). I'm looking at you Da Silva or Simpson.
It won't be TDS. He's a role model and will speak up more as a senior, but he's not a vocal leader hardass like we need. KJ is possible. I think there's a chance that Lambkin comes in and gives us the grittiness and sets that standard of toughness.

Didn’t he resign? I could have sworn that I heard he was leaving UO.
He went on a whinge about the fan-support his program receives (or doesn't receive), but I'm pretty sure he's still there. I'd have thrown a 'dance on his career's grave' party, had he left.

Agreed. As much as I believe this is a top-30 team, with this team's makeup (with what we know) they'd be better off being slighted and picked like 7-8 in the conference. Play much better with that underdog mentality.

If only there were a blog where I could get this kind of analysis…
