Football stadiums the same size, but CSU's is newer, more modern. CSU's enrollment is about 1/3 higher with a better academic rating and in a much larger market.

Also they are only on the edge of nowhere instead of the middle of nowhere like Pullman.

He may also be hearing all the rumors around the program and have an idea that if things don't get better fast at SC, Riley will be out and his staff will be looking for new jobs anyways.

As you put it USC is a can't win for him, Purdue on the other hand is almost a can't lose. He is well enough known in the profession that he can always get a job, do well at Purdure and it can elevate him to a better job.

plus, as OC, while Purdue is a tough hill to climb in B10, you aren't on the mat for wins and losses.....just stats and getting good qb play.
