I always like to set up these threads for all the sports to account for any off-season and spring (for this sport) scrimmage and training period news.

1st, just a quick look back with some summary numbers from this past season:
Record - 15-14 overall; 6-14 in Pac 12 play.
RPI - In the latest ratings (also the one's used by the NCAA tournament selection committee), the Buffs are at #87.
Massey - #43
Pablo - These proprietary ratings are considered (at least in the Volleytalk forum) as probably the best for women's volleyball. Again, they are proprietary, so I can't access them currently. However, per a person allowed to disclose them for his weekly Pac 12 thread, the Buffs were at #47 going into this past week's final 2 matches.
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

To start with post-season news, congrats to seniors Jenna Ewert (departing) and Brynna Deluzio (taking advantage of her "Covid year" next season), as well as sophomore Maya Tabron, for earning All-Pac 12 honorable mention honors (Per https://pac-12.com/article/2021/11/29/pac-12-announces-2021-womens-volleyball-postseason-honors).

Also, the cubuffs.com release -

From the below, looks like the team may (???) have picked up another student-athlete for next season. (My initial searches didn't find who yet.) Figured I'd post this here (rather than the recruiting thread) since it could be another incoming freshman or (maybe more likely given the time of year???) a transfer.

As I posted in the transfer thread (https://www.allbuffs.com/threads/ol...-other-roster-news.105930/page-7#post-3170906), now looks like the newest vball Buff is 6'1" outside (AKA left-side) and opposite (AKA right-side) hitter Lexi Hadrych, who will be coming to Boulder from UCLA with, I believe, up to 2 years of eligibility remaining. (More on her in that other thread.)

Zoe wrote on Instagram "good bye volleyball". Congrats to all of the team, especially the award winners and seniors.

I know I will miss seeing Brynna play.

Not "news" as to previously unknown Buffs, but official confirmation of incoming transfer outside hitter Lexi Hadrych and freshman libero/ defensive specialist Emma Desensi joining the team next season.

OFFICIAL welcome and congrats to them!

Based on the below, assume the team is beginning (or has begun) its spring training period.

new video posted by Volleyball. I am a little confused. I thought Deluzio was in the portal, but she is in the video

There is another video and I think Meegan Hart is, too. Take a look at it and see what you think.

Having Brynna back is great for the team!

Best wishes to the 2 Buffs down in Colorado Springs!

BOULDER – Colorado volleyball student-athletes Alexia Kuehl and Emma Torstenson are heading to the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs this Friday through Sunday for the 2022 USAVB Women's National Team Open Program.

"I'm excited for Lex and Emma," said head coach Jesse Mahoney. "The USA tryout is a great opportunity to train and compete with some of the best players in the country. I expect them to make the most of the experience and represent Colorado Volleyball well."

Kuehl and Torstensen will compete with hundreds of athletes around the country. In addition, 50 coaches and staff will be present to help including 2020 Olympic Gold Medalist Jordan Thompson.

Kuehl will work alongside numerous middles, front row hitters and setters in a session Friday afternoon while Torstenson will work with a group Friday evening that includes all six rotations. Both will be a part of a Q&A with Thompson on Saturday to go along with practice and finish up with a Sunday practice.

Kuehl played in 100 sets this season with 162 kills and a .313 hitting percentage. She also had 87 blocks, good for second for Colorado.

"I'm excited to be given an opportunity to play and compete with some of the best volleyball players in the country," said Kuehl.

Torstenson played in 10 matches for Colorado as a true freshman, starting five of them. She had 10 service aces and 68 digs, averaging 1.84 digs per set.

"I am so thankful for the opportunity to get to play and compete with some of the best players in the country," said Torstenson. "I'm really looking forward to the experience!"

Registration is open to college-age athletes born 1997-2003. The group selected will train in Anaheim, Calif., alongside U.S. Women's National Team athletes and staff. CU has sent numerous student-athletes through to compete in Anaheim in the past years.

Interesting. I thought she had enough injury problems that she was done.

Team announces its spring scrimmage schedule, which begins this Saturday at home vs. Air Force.

"
BOULDER – Colorado women's volleyball team kicks off the 2022 spring season this Saturday with its first of five scrimmages against Air Force at 11:30 a.m. in Boulder.

The Buffaloes will compete four times this spring, Saturday against Air Force, at Northern Colorado Apr. 2 at 11 a.m., at Colorado State Apr. 9 for a double-header against Denver at 12:30 then against the Rams at 2 p.m., then finish things up at home against Wyoming Apr. 16 at 1 p.m.

Colorado is coming off a 15-14 season that included a school-record nine-straight wins to start the season. The Buffs finished the conference season 10th in the Pac-12 with a 6-14 record.

Most of the team returns from next season, including Brynna DeLuzio and Meegan Hart who announced their return using their COVID year last week. Colorado also welcomed signee Rian Finley who joined the Buffs at the beginning of the spring semester. The setter from Nevada gives CU a pair of setters heading into the spring with Taylor Simpson set to take the reins from departing senior Jenna Ewert.
...

All of the scrimmages in Boulder are free to the public to attend. Doors will open and warmups will start an hour before the scrimmage begins.

2022 SPRING SCHEDULE

Nice spring training period update on the team in Buffzone (by Pat Rooney).

(One of my main questions going into next season is where returning 6th year senior Brynna Deluzio might be playing since she's been key at two different and both KEY positions (setter and libero). Sounds like setter for her is plan 1 right now, while libero isn't totally ruled out.)

The most intriguing aspect of spring workouts for Colorado volleyball coach Jesse Mahoney isn’t the position battles unfolding, or watching a few sixth-year seniors interact with younger players trying to make the next step.

For the Buffaloes, it’s encouraging simply to have a spring schedule at all.
...

The Buffs’ spring exhibition schedule continues on Saturday at Colorado State with matches against the Rams as well as the University of Denver. The spring schedule concludes with a home match on April 16 against Wyoming.

No scrimmages at CSU tomorrow. CU will be playing DU at the Events Center. probably on the upper practice court, at noon tomorrow.

Thanks to the general Volleytalk forum thread on teams releasing their schedules for next season (https://volleytalk.proboards.com/thread/88118/2022-d1-schedules?page=3), we now know at least 2 matches upcoming for the Buffs.

As has been the tradition the last few years, CU and CSU are scheduled to have a 2 match back to back home and home in non-conference play, with the Buffs heading to Fort Collins to face the Rams Thursday evening, Sept. 15th, followed up by a return match the next night in Boulder. (This is per CSU's schedule at https://csurams.com/sports/womens-volleyball/schedule.)

Again thanks to the Volleytalk forum, looks like the 1st weekend's scheduled opponents are now known. Western Michigan just tweeted out its non-conference schedule for the coming season, and they show themselves in Boulder from Aug. 26th-27th, with them also playing Green Bay and DU. WMU looks to be playing the Buffs as its 2nd match of the day on the 26th. (They're playing DU earlier in the day.)

Schedule released-
(Looks like it's the Arizona schools that the Buffs only play once this season in conference play.)
