Thought I'd start this thread now for us to note anything interesting anyone see during the off-season for CU's "individual" sports. (Track and field is still going on, so most of the news in that sport, for the next week or so, will probably go in its Championships thread.)

Note- I often like to include the noted student-athlete's class for this coming academic year when mentioning them. So in this and later posts, I'm going to list their classes assuming they are advancing one class from this past academic year to the coming one. However, if I'm understanding things correctly, if a student-athlete and the coaches agree at some point during their college year that its advantageous for both sides, this past academic year does not need to be counted as a lost year of eligibility, even if the student-athlete did compete.

A couple things to start off-

On the court, congrats to junior Sophia Derivan for getting chosen for the honor of competing for her country this summer in tennis!

And, on the course, congrats to sophomore Hailey Schalk for earning low amateur score while finishing in a tie for 10th at this week's 2021 COBank Colorado Women's Golf Open!

Best wishes to the 3 current or alum Buffs at U.S. Open qualifying!

(the 1st round isn't near done, but looks like Mr. Max has had a solid start, and is tied for 6th, 2 strokes off the lead, at -2 through 6 holes of the 1st round. Mr. Bjorlow, however, has had a tough start, and is +6 through 9.

Purchase, New York - https://www.usopen.com/qualifying/final/purchase-new-york-century-old-oaks.html#!&tab=results
(Looks like Mr. Hayes has had a rough tourney, and is at +16 early in the 2nd round, 21 strokes out of 1st.)

Best wishes to these 2 Buffs at the U.S. Women's Amateur beginning Monday!
