2021 WBB Recruit Profile Index

One 2021 offer I originally posted in the 2019 thread (before this thread was set up)- in-demand 6'0" PG Taylor Bigby from Centennial HS in Las Vegas and the Cal Sparks AAU club.

Assume her offers as of the end of May-

(Going quickly through her tweets, looks like she's added, at minimum, Arizona, Oregon and Georgetown offers since then.)

Per the media guide, Val Johnson was a freshman guard on the 1994-95 team and a redshirt freshman guard on the 95-96 team. During her career, she played in 3 games, 12 minutes, had one assist and no points.
IIRC - Johnson had perhaps one or more serious injuries, perhaps ACLs, and eventually transferred to Colorado Christian. She went to Doherty HS in the Springs and was more or less a contemporary of Erin Schulz.

An offer looks to have gone out to 6'1"-6'2" F Grace Hall who currently goes to Homewood-Flossmoor HS in Flossmoor (southern suburb of Chicago) IL, and plays for the Example Sports AAU program. (Going back through Example's twitter account, so far this year she's also received offers from UT- San Antonio, Pitt, LSU, Iowa, Penn State, Dayton, Marquette,Xavier,Virginia, and Depaul. Per https://wbbblog.com/2019/01/30/2021-class-recruiting-news-updates-december-2018-january-2019/, looks like she also earlier had offers from at least 8 other schools.)

Latest on Taylor Bigby (see post #2 for lots of info about her)

Taylor is a 4.5 star player by Prospects Nation, the #6 guard for 2021 and #15 overall. Being in her top 12 is great but she could be a real difference maker for the Buffs so the challenge for the coaches is to try to close this one.

Taylor Bigby would be huge for CU and J.R. Payne. Going to be hard to get but I would be more than thrilled if she committed. Some of the recruits I have seen lately have seemed to be a class above the typical recruit CU has been getting. Got to close on some of these players

Looks like the Buffs have at some point offered Alana Micheaux, an in-demand 6'2" PF from Wayne Michigan.

An offer looks to be out to this 6'1" forward and scoring machine (31.1 pts.(!!!- along with 9.7 rebounds) per game her junior season in high school) from Tuscon AZ.

Recent offer looks to have gone out to this 6'2"-6'3" PF (or C per Maxpreps) currently at Wauwatosa East HS, Wauwatosa (looks to be a suburb of Milwaukee) Wisconsin.

https://prospectsnation.com/player/chloe-dallas (They have her ranked #29 nationally in her class.)

The link from the above tweet with list of current offers - https://www.wissports.net/roster_players/33967589?subseason=618635
(Per that, "NCAA Division I offers from Cleveland State, Colorado, IUPUI, Milwaukee, Northern Illinois, North Dakota and Seton Hall. " Note that although this page has a stats section, it doesn't look like it's close to accurate.)

Offer looks to have gone out a "few weeks ago" to this 6'3" C/PF from Shawnee Mission Kansas and the KC Dream club team.

Per https://www.kansas.com/sports/varsity-kansas/varsity-basketball/article241398261.html , she was named 2nd team All-State after this past season.

Her Maxpreps page (Looks like her school didn't post stats, so there's not a lot of info here.) - https://www.maxpreps.com/athlete/kennedy--taylor/PdCJyoDDEeiAyNdjx8XCRA/default.htm

Per http://www.sunflowersmack.com/wp-co...-Basketball-Final-Reg-Season-V3-2-29-2020.pdf , she averaged 15.2 points and 9.1 rebounds this past season.

#59 (per Prospectnation) and #81 (per ESPN) ranked player in her class - 6'1" F from Norman (or Prague) Oklahoma.

Summary of CU WBB roster and recruiting from this year thru 2022

Definitely recommend any Buff and/ or WBB fans check that blog out. Lots of goods info there.

The/ A website contributor also tweeted the below general update-

___________________________________________________________________________________________

That website also has another page that lists all the Buff 2021 offers and their status - https://wbbblog.com/colorado-womens-basketball-recruiting/2/

As the above tweet notes, interesting to me that of the six open offers they show, FIVE are 6'2" forwards (the other's a 6'3" center).

Of the six open (uncommitted) Buff offers listed on their site, five (Brown (post #14), Embry (#17), Hall (#9), Micheaux (#13) and Taylor (#16)) were already known to this thread. (They don't show Chloe Dallas (see post #15) on their list.)
____________________________________________________________________________________________

The one open Buff offer they have listed not previously noted on this thread is one evidently given earlier this month to 6'0"-6'2" F/W Kendra Gillispie from Oklahoma City (and/ or Norman). More on her-

Her Buff offer tweet-

The wbbblog page for her - https://wbbblog.com/kendra-gillispie/
(Per this page, she was committed to Ole Miss, but decommitted this past April.)

ESPN's recruit page - http://www.espn.com/high-school/girls-basketball/recruiting/player/_/id/239028
(They have ranked the overall #100 player and #13 wing in her class.)

HUDL-

Maxpreps page (her school doesn't post stats in there, so not much useful info.) - https://www.maxpreps.com/athlete/kendra-gillispie/fmORmzFtEeqAzqREozo6lw/default.htm

Also per the wbbblog 2021 page linked to above, a couple student-athletes previously noted as having received Buff offers in this thread have now evidently committed to other schools. Per that page:
Taylor Bigby (see post #'s 2 and 11-12) committed to Oregon last October.
Mailia Fisher (see post #10) committed to Rice last month.

I don't think Kulinska returned to Poland over the summer. It appears Whitaker did. I wonder if she will be returning to the US.

The roster is up for 20-21 but it doesn't list any of the freshman.

One is from Denmark (I think) Wonder if she can clear all of NCAA hoops and get to the US for a season (if there is a season)

It appears Whitaker did.
There was a tiktok of Charlotte with her family in New Zealand from posted a month or two ago by JR Payne. So she could still be at home.

The Danish player is Frida Formann. Who knows what will happen with any of the foreign students athletes that aren't currently in the US? Men's basketball has a player from Germany and soccer also signed players from Europe.

It seems like should a college basketball season happen it may start late, perhaps not until January.

Summary of CU WBB roster and recruiting from this year thru 2022
Agree that this appears to be a good summary of the roster and what it will look like in the future. Helps to visualizes numbers in a given class.

Looking at the roster, I for next season and beyond, it seems like it would make sense for the staff to be pursuing a center/power forward for the final available scholarship rather than a wing type player which they have in abundance.

Lauren Walker had been verballed to Duke but re-opened her recruiting after the coaching change at Duke. Back in April/May when she committed to Duke she was rated as #116 in the 2021 class by AllStarGirlsReport and #163 by BlueStar. Not great but pretty darn good considering where CU recruits have been in recent years.

You can build a very good roster on Top 150 players.

Another recruit going elsewhere

really think something has got to change in the program. Cant stop missing out on some of kids in the top 150. i understand the top kids but I just don't see the ability to recruit on this staff and it may be coach and it may be support for ad or whatever but it has to improve if CU wants to get out the the cellar in the pac 12. Still question if JR. is the person for the job
