Let’s hear some nominations for this year’s award. I’m going with Cam’Ron Silmon-Craig. Dude isn’t the biggest or the fastest, but he plays with great energy, smarts and toughness.

We all love Trav but he’s gonna get the biggest award in December. How about giving it to somebody else who is underrated nationally but has a huge impact on the team and plays hard every time he’s out there. Silmon-Craig should get it in my opinion. Coach Prime says he is the heart of the defense…enough said.

Dude - only one guy practices with the 1s on both sides of the ball, has to do hours of extra film study every week, and plays 100+ snaps every game. I understand the desire to spread the wealth, but that also cheapens the award, imo. It has to be Travis.

Travis did not play all the plays, he missed games
CSC has spoke up, led, and sacrificed his body to make so many plays.

He is the one for this award
You responded to me so I will do the same…Let’s be clear that I am in no way knocking CSC by voting for Hunter. But Hunter is doing something that has never been done before in college football, and it takes absolutely insane grit, toughness and ability to do what he is doing…there is a reason no one has done it before. He has very much led and sacrificed his body as well. I think Hunter’s problem is that he makes it look easy.

If we want to give the award to CSC because Hunter will get enough recognition elsewhere, then that’s fine. But we’re effectively saying that Rashaan wouldn’t have won it in 1994, or Barry Sanders wouldn’t have won it if he played here….which again, is fine.

CSC has mine, with NHG on his heels. Also, not going on stats, but another returning Buff meriting a mention on defense is Bentley. He changed his body over the Spring/Summer and IMO has been steady eddy at MLB. Without Bentley you probably don't get NHG, vice versa...
