With the TENNIS team being one of those Buff sports that has MANY tournaments in both the fall and spring semesters, I wanted to set up a thread that as normal we can use to cover anything that comes up on and off the courts related to the team.

I'm starting this thread now as at some point the team has posted its FALL (not spring yet) schedule (https://cubuffs.com/sports/womens-tennis/schedule) Per that, the 1st tournament is scheduled to be in San Francisco Sept. 11-14.

A copy of the fall (only) schedule right now from cubuffs:

Colorado Fall Schedule Set

By: Teagan Schreiber, Athletic Communications Student Assistant

BOULDER -
The Colorado Buffaloes tennis team is gearing up to begin its fall competition this September, featuring tournaments with a successful history for the Buffs, as well as new challenges.

Colorado enters the fifth season under head coach Anthony Pham, with three newcomers and six returning players. Seniors Anya Nelson and Rixt van der Werff lead the way, followed by a talented and deep group including Lera Alexin, Ema Bubalo, Willow Gretsch, and Pia Rebec. Newcomers Lani Brotman, Heidi Crncan, and Yukiko Ikedo enter the lineup as true freshmen.

The Buffs begin their season by heading back to the Battle in the Bay Classic, hosted by the University of San Francisco. This is the fifth consecutive year that the team has participated in this tournament, and the seventh year overall. Last year, Colorado finished with one doubles duo reaching the consolation finals with two victories.

Following Battle in the Bay, the Buffs will take a short trip to Colorado Springs for the Bedford Cup. In 2021, six athletes represented Colorado for the first time at the tournament, with one freshman, recently graduated Betina Tokac, standing and making her mark on the way to the semifinals.

The fall will also be loaded with competition through the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, including the All-American and Mountain Region Championships, Conference Masters, and Fall Sectionals, all of which hopefully leads to a spot at the NCAA Individual Championships, which was moved to the fall competition season in 2024.

Two more opportunities will be intertwined through the ITA competition from October to November, reaching from Denver all the way to Bonita Bay, Florida. The in-state Pioneers will host a Hidden Dual event at the end of October. The dual will be heeded by the Bonita Bay Classic the following week, a tournament the Buffs have yet to participate in.

Along with the fall competition, Colorado will hold room for the 2025 ITF Women's World Tennis tour, a professional tour a tier below the Challenger Series of the Women's Tennis Association. The tour holds 500 tournaments across 65 countries, including the ITF 35k and the ITF 15k in California, Oklahoma, and South Carolina, of which the Buffs could participate.

Colorado Named ITA All-Academic Team

The Buffs Named to the ITA All-Academic Team with Seven Athletes Receiving Individual Honors.

By: Teagan Schreiber, Athletic Communications Student Assistant

BOULDER - After a record-breaking year in the classroom, the Colorado Buffaloes tennis team and seven individuals picked up Intercollegiate Tennis Association academic honors, the organization announced this week.

For the 13th time since 2001, the Buffs as a team achieved above a 3.2 grade point average needed to be honored as an ITA Academic team. The seven individuals honored is a new school record as all Scholar-Athletes must have above a 3.5 grade point average. The previous best was six athletes over the 3.5 GPA in 2020. The individuals named Scholar-Athletes are Lera Alexin, Ema Bubalo, Anya Nelson, Pia Rebec, Betina Tokac, Mila Stanojevic and Rixt van der Werff.

The tennis team put up not only its best term GPA in history this past spring with a 3.76 GPA, it's also the second-highest GPA in school history for any sport in any term dating back to 1996. The team also had its best fall term GPA in history with a 3.56 GPA, which is now the second-best term in team history, and the cumulative GPA for the team of 3.41, which is also the highest in team history. The squad has a streak of 13 straight semesters over a 3.2 GPA.

This year, 1,462 Division I women's tennis players were named Scholar-Athletes, and 222 women's programs were awarded the All-Academic Team.

Not that I ever have much if any confidence in pre-season rankings in ANY sport, but did want to note that, per the below, the Buffs are ranked #65 in the main (ITA) pre-season women's tennis poll. (They ended up out of the Top 75 in the final national rankings at the end of last season, and were #7 in the Mountain Region.)

Hope they end up out-performing the pre-season ranking this coming academic year!

Buffs Begin Fall Competition

Colorado heads to California to open the season at the Battle in The Bay Classic

By: Teagan Schreiber, Athletic Communications Student Assistant

BOULDER –
The Colorado Buffaloes women's tennis team begin its 2025 fall slate in San Francisco, California, at the Battle in The Bay Classic this weekend.

Sophomore Lera Alexin and Junior Ema Bubalo will travel to compete Sept. 11-14th in four days of competition at the California Tennis Club, the oldest private tennis club in the West.

"The California Tennis Club always does such a tremendous job of putting on a first-class event and we are excited for Ema and Lera to represent the Buffs at it" said head coach Anthony Pham, "The level of competition will be high, and we are looking forward to competing. Our focus is all about getting better and being process oriented, and this weekend will be no different."

Competition begins on Thursday and will continue through Sunday with Round of 32 brackets in both singles and doubles.

Last year, seniors Aya El Sayed and Mila Stanojevic received an invitation to compete, leaving with a combined 3-4 singles record, and 2-2 in doubles making it to the consolation finals.

The Battle in The Bay is a highly touted event for collegiate athletes, as an invite is required to attend as a competitor. Players from all around the United States come to battle it out for the top spot, and secure a Wildcard bid for a chance to participate in a 60-thousand-dollar professional tournament the following week.

Buffs Head to Colorado Springs

Seven Buffs travel to Air Force Academy for competition at the Bedford Cup

By: Teagan Schreiber, Athletic Communications Student Assistant

BOULDER –
The Colorado Buffaloes women's tennis team heads deeper into its fall competition this weekend, sending seven to the Bedford Cup in Colorado Springs.

Returners Pia Rebec, Anya Nelson, Rixt van der Werff, Willow Gretsch, and the three freshman -- Yukiko Ikedo, Heidi Crncan, and Lani Brotman will travel to the Cadet Gymnasium, beginning their first matches Friday morning. The three newcomers will have the chance to record their first matches as Buffs.

"This weekend will be the first opportunity for this group to compete this fall," head coach Anthony Pham stated, "We are excited to see our newcomers compete for the first time as Buffs. The buy in and work ethic has been great since day one so we are excited to see what our group can achieve this year."

Competition begins on Friday at 9:15 a.m. (MT) and will continue throughout the day, repeating the same schedule Saturday and Sunday. This year's field of competition will consist of 10 teams, two of which hold previous conference championships.

The last time the Buffs competed in this tournament was 2021, sending six athletes and recording 10 singles and four doubles victories.

Sounds like the Buffs had a GOOD opening tourney for the bulk of the team, led by a frosh Buff earning the win in singles (with another Buff runner-up) at the AFA, and a couple frosh Buffs (including the singles winner) got a runner-up finish in doubles.

Buffs Bring Home the Bedford Cup

Four Buffs secure placement positions in their respective brackets

By: Teagan Schreiber, Athletic Communications Student Assistant

COLORADO SPRINGS –
The Colorado Buffalo women's tennis team took home the Bedford Cup Trophy after an overall dominant performance this weekend in Colorado Springs at the United States Air Force Academy.

To start the morning, Lani Brotman and Yukiko Ikedo completed double's competition, taking a second-place finish. The duo paired up against Ramos Garcia and Mlkva of Utah State, falling short despite capturing two-straight games, 6-3.

Moving into singles, Brotman and Pia Rebec faced each other in the first-place match, bringing it all the way to a third set. Rebec took the first set, 6-3, to gain a quick lead. Brotman quickly returned, taking the match with a pair of 6-2 sets.

On the other side in consolation rounds, the Buffs picked up two wins due to opponent injury. With Ikedo and Anya Nelson's opponent withdrawal, both won their consolation matches, putting them at 3rd place in their respective brackets.

"Tournaments like this are always long days and a lot of matches," said head coach Anthony Pham, "but I thought the team did a great job of handling the ups and downs, weather delays, and other adversities, which sets us up well for the season to come."

Overall, as a team, the Buffs recorded 22 wins – five in doubles and the remaining 17 in singles.

"This was also the first opportunity for the freshman to play matches as well as feel what it's like to be a part of the team," Pham continued, "and I think there are still lessons to come from this weekend, but overall, it was very positive."

Up Next
The Buffs will take a two-week pause in competition to then come back for the ITA Mountain Region Championship October 7-11 in Provo, Utah.

Colorado Heads To Regional Championships

The Buffs open their chance to qualify for NCAA Championships in Provo

By: Teagan Schreiber, Athletic Communications Student Assistant

BOULDER –
The Colorado Buffaloes women's tennis team travels to BYU to continue fall competition at the ITA Mountain Regional Championships, beginning next Tuesday.

After two weeks off from competition, all nine student-athletes will compete for a chance to qualify for the NCAA Individual Championships later this year, with three starting in the qualification draw and the remaining six placed in the main draw.

With the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships being held in the fall, the two singles finalists and the doubles champion from each region will earn their bid to the Individual Championships, November 18-23.

"Regional's is an important tournament for our individuals in the fall. It's an opportunity for singles and doubles to get into the NCAA tournament," said head coach Anthony Pham, "I know they're excited. We have high expectations for our athletes, and we are ready to go and compete."

Last year at the regional tournament, Anya Nelson and Ema Bubalo made history as the first ITA Mountain Region doubles champions in program history. The duo went 6-0 on the week, despite being unseeded entering the tournament.

Competition begins next Tuesday, October 7th, and opening draws will be released this Saturday. Draws and live updates can be found at wearecollegetennis.com.

A couple days ago, the team released a preview for a series of matches that DU is hosting over the next 3 days. This tourney is a little more interesting to me since it may be the only one (???) this fall that is a series of dual matches rather than individual bracket-oriented, so is more like the competition structure (dual matches) that dominates the main winter/spring season that largely determines whether at team's season is successful or not.

Go Buffs!

Colorado Close to Home for Weekend of Competition

By: Teagan Schreiber, Athletic Communications Student Assistant

BOULDER –
The University of Colorado women's tennis team continue in its fall competition this weekend, heading to Denver for the Pioneer Hidden Dual Tournament.

Colorado will join Denver, Wyoming, and Weber State for three days of competition at the Denver Tennis Park, Oct. 24-26th.

The Buffs currently hold a 34-18 record over the Pioneers, with 11 wins on Denver's courts. Their last match up was earlier this year for Colorado's home opener, when the Buffs defeated DU, 5-2.

With a short history against Wyoming, the Buffs are looking to add to their 4-1 record over the Cowboys. The last dual resulted in a 4-0 shutout over Wyoming in 2022.

The Buffs haven't faced Weber State since 1996, when they held a six-match win streak outscoring the Wildcats 32-16.

Colorado is expected to begin at 11 a.m. (MT) Friday and Sunday, and 9 a.m. on Saturday.

Follow along for tournament updates on our social media @cubuffstennis.

Per the DU preview article (https://denverpioneers.com/news/2025/10/22/denver-womens-tennis-ready-to-host-colorado-cup.aspx ), CU is playing Wyoming today, Weber State tomorrow and DU on Sunday. (Per that preview, it sounds a little funky in one aspect, in that in order to fill a couple of the teams' rosters, a couple DU athletes are going to be representing Weber State to give them the necessary minimum 8 players, and 3 CSU players will be playing on Wyoming's team (Friday and Saturday only).)

Also, the Buffs are in the later timeslot Friday and Sunday and the earlier one on Saturday, which per the DU preview means they'd be playing their singles matches around noon F and Su. and 9:00 AM MT on Sa., with doubles slotted for 11:00 AM MT all 3 days.

Buffs Resume Fall Competition

Buffs head another week of play at the Bonita Bay Classic and Conference Masters

By: Teagan Schreiber, Athletic Communications Student Assistant

BOULDER –
Another weekend packed with competition is ahead for Colorado, with a crew traveling to Bonita Bay, Florida, and San Diego, California.

Lera Alexin and Rixt Van Der Werff will represent the Big 12 in doubles competition at the 2025 ITA Conference Masters Championship, Nov. 6-9th. The duo is currently 7-1 this fall, with their one loss being the semifinal match at the ITA Regional Championship.

The ITA Conference Masters consists of one singles and doubles selection from each conference to represent their team in the last chance to qualify for the NCAA Singles Championship in two weeks. The semifinalists of singles play and the finalists along with third place for doubles will qualify.

This is the second year in which the Conference Masters have occurred, and the first year that Colorado will represent its conference in the tournament.

"It's great for them to be representing the Big 12," said head coach Anthony Pham, "the fact that they received the invite is a testament to them and the results they've had this fall. I know they are excited for the opportunity and the chance to qualify for the NCAA tournament."

The remaining seven Buffs will participate in the Bonita Bay Collegiate Classic, held at the FGCU Tennis Complex from Nov. 7-9th.

Colorado has traveled to Bonita Bay once prior to this fall, picking up one dual win against Notre Dame. The team was led by Mila Stanojevic, picking up a 3-0 record in Florida.

"It's always a great opportunity for us to play in different conditions, being in Florida but also playing on a different surface then we are used to." stated Pham, "Our kids are excited about playing, and finishing fall on a good note."

Don't know if there's any difference to the schedule they released back in September, but with the fall competitive season now complete, the team posted / re-posted its main spring schedule -

Nice news for the team, as one of their top players (she was typically the team's #1 or #2 most of the last 2 seasons) , who unfortunately got injured right near the beginning of conference play last season, is coming back for the (main) spring season (after not being on the team during the fall).

El Sayed Returns For Final Season

By: Teagan Schreiber, Athletic Communications Student Assistant

BOULDER –
University of Colorado star women's tennis athlete, Aya El Sayed, will return to Boulder for one last season as a Buff, following her last year which was beset by injury.

The Alexandria, Egypt native led Colorado at the No. 1 spot in singles consistently over the last couple of year's, holding a career record of 50-31 in singles as a Buff. Of those 50 wins one of those were against the reigning National Champion from UCLA during the 2024 season.

Throughout the 2024-25 season, El Sayed was ranked in doubles competition consistently with partner Pia Rebec -- the duo finished off with a 19-13 record to end the season.

El Sayed is on the career leader boards at Colorado, including No. 13 in singles winning percentages (.645) and No. 10 in doubles pairs wins with Rebec (11).

The returner along with the rest of the team will begin their spring slate on January 23rd, opening home competition against Montana State.

BOULDER –
The Colorado Buffaloes tennis team opened spring competition in impressive fashion with a 7-0 sweep over the Montana State Bobcats Friday night at the Meadows Club.

To open the victorious night, the Buffs made quick work of doubles competition to secure wins on No. 1 and 2, taking the 1-0 lead heading into singles.

"It's always good to start with a win," head coach Anthony Pham said. "Montana State is a good team, they always finish at the top of their conference. I'm happy for our team, and good for our underclassmen to get a feel for the competition."

Lera Alexin and Rixt Van der Werff started it off quick taking a 6-4 victory in the No. 2 spot, setting up Anya Nelson and Ema Bubalo at the top spot to reel it in with a 6-4 win. Although Pia Rebec and Lani Brotman found a lead on No. 3, the match went unfinished, 4-3, due to their teammates wins.

All six wins came into Colorado's possession for singles play, with all six also being in straight sets. Bubalo started the Buffs off at No. 2 recording her first win of the spring, and seventh of the season, followed by Alexin at No. 4 taking the second set after a close 7-5 tiebreaker.

Quickly after, Rebec, Brotman, Van der Werff, and Nelson contributed to the final stretch victories, capping off the night.

"It was a great crowd tonight; we are grateful for everyone who came out to support. There's always nerves to begin doubles, but with help from the crowd they weathered the storm and got through those matches."

Tennis Buffs Gear Up to face RedHawks, Pioneers

Colorado ready to face Miami (Ohio) and Denver in another weekend of competition.

By: Teagan Schreiber, Athletic Communications Student Assistant

BOULDER –
The Colorado Buffaloes tennis team are gearing up to find success in another weekend of competition, following the 2-0 start at home this past Friday and Sunday.

Colorado opened home and spring competition on Jan. 23, sweeping Montana State, 7-0, with a full lineup of success from both singles and doubles. The Buffs kept the energy going on Jan. 25, capping the weekend off with another clean sweep, 4-0, against the Air Force Academy.

"It's always nice to play at home," head coach Anthony Pham said. "I think we've had a good month so far with practice, training, and getting the two matches in last week. We always have good crowds at home so it's nice to play here, but whether it's home or on the road, the focus for us is to keep getting better. We know the month of February is going to be a challenging one, from a travel standpoint. But I think our team is ready."

The Buffs will match up against Miami (Ohio) at home on Friday to conclude home competition until early March. The team will make a short trip on Sunday to their first away match, facing close rivals, the Denver Pioneers.

Colorado has yet to face the RedHawks, who start their season 0-4 heading into Fridays match. On the contrary, the Pioneers are just 1-0 to begin their spring season, defeating Seattle 6-1 last Friday.

The Buffs currently reign a 32-13 record over Denver, and at one point holding a 15-match win streak from 1985 to 2003. Since then, it has been a back-and-forth battle between the Colorado competitors, yet CU has posted victories in the last two match ups since 2022.

"DU is always a very good program," Pham said. "It's always a close match. It'll be a good test for us, but we must clean up to start on Friday against Miami, and then we can head into Sunday. For both, it's just good opportunities for us to keep getting better."

The Pioneers have finished at the top of the Summit League conference for 11-straight years, since joining the league in 2013. They have represented in the last 11 NCAA Championship tournaments as well, advancing twice to the second round.

Competition will begin at 6 p.m. (MT) on Friday at the Meadows Club, and 4 p.m. on Sunday at the Denver Tennis Park. Live updates and information will be available to follow on Instagram and X at @cubuffstennis.

Colorado Completes Third Straight Win at Home

The Buffs improve to 3-0 with a 6-1 win over RedHawks

By: Teagan Schreiber, Athletic Communications Student Assistant

BOULDER –
The Colorado Buffaloes tennis team finish January competition with another dominant win, downing Miami Ohio 6-1, Friday night at the Meadows Club.

"Did we play our best? No, but that think a lot had to do with Miami," head coach Anthony Pham said. "They got a lot of credit to them. They played very well and pushed us in a lot of the courts. That will pay dividends, it's only going to help."

The Buffs began the night with a quick doubles victory, finding wins at the top two spots. Pia Rebec and Aya El Sayed picked up the first win at No. 2, followed by Anya Nelson and Ema Bubalo who recorded their 34th win as a duo. The pairs victory put them at the fifth most doubles career wins in CU history.

"They definitely put us in some uncomfortable situations and moments on a lot of courts," Pham said. "And that's going to continue to happen throughout the season, especially when we get into Big 12 play."

Singles competition came with a hard fight for the Buffs, who found wins on all but one court.

Rebec and Lera Alexin notched the first victories at No. 3 and 4 in straight sets. Rixt van der Werff found the third singles win at the top spot, coming back from a dropped second set to find a dominant third, downing her RedHawk opponent, and clinching the match for the Buffs.

Brotman followed, despite falling in a first set tiebreaker. The freshman fought hard to a perfect second set, and topped it off with a final win in the third. The night ended at No. 6 with Nelson, sealing the deal in two close sets.
...

"Every time we play Denver, I feel like it's a battle,'' said Pham. "We'll rest up, get a good day of practice tomorrow and just be ready to battle Sunday."

Coach Pham has done a really good job with a Tennis program that gets about no resources and was just kind of allowed to continue to exist.

The Buffs did get the doubles point, but DU ended up winning overall by a 2-4 match score.

Tennis Buffs Ready for Three Match Weekend

By: Teagan Schreiber, Athletic Communications Student Assistant

BOULDER –
The Colorado Buffaloes tennis team is gearing up for a busy weekend on the road, ready for three matches in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

"Good opportunities coming forward this weekend," said head coach Anthony Pham. "Each match is going to present different challenges."

The weekend will begin on Friday against Alabama, who holds a 6-0 record this season. The Crimson Tide has wiped out four teams with a sweep and outscored their opponents 30-2.

The Buffs have seen Alabama only three times in past competition, earning a 2-1 overall record. The last meeting was held in 2007, where Alabama downed Colorado in a close 4-3 finish.

"We know Alabama is a good team," said Pham. "They've made the tournament the last couple of years. Playing them in Minnesota at a neutral site will be a test."

Minnesota has found similar success this season, also holding a 6-0 record. The Gophers started their season off with a win over Big 12 opponent, Iowa State, 5-2.

Colorado holds a short history with Minnesota as well, holding a 5-1 series record. The last meeting came in 2020 at home where Colorado downed the Gophers, 4-1.

With a ranked singles players from each team, Colorado will find strong competition this weekend. The Tide currently have one top 50 singles player, No. 45 Kristina Paskauskas. From Minnesota, Aiva Schmitz currently holds the No. 117 ranking.

The last match of the weekend against St. Thomas will be the first meeting for the teams. The Tommies currently hold a 2-1 record, looking for another win over Drake University before facing the Buffaloes on Sunday.

The first match of the season for St. Thomas came as a loss from Iowa State, 6-1, but quickly bounced back to find matching 4-3 wins over Western Illinois and Bradley University.

"Minnesota is also off to a good start, which will be good for us," Pham said. "Playing St. Thomas in a double header will present different challenges for our team, but I believe we are in a good place right now, and the team is excited to get back and compete this weekend."

Competition will begin at 2 p.m. (MT) on Friday at the Baseline Tennis Center. On Sunday, the first match up against Minnesota will begin at 8 a.m., followed by the second against St. Thomas at 2 p.m, at InnerCity Tennis. Live updates and information will be available to follow on Instagram and X at @cubuffstennis.

Buffs Continue Competition on the Road

By: Teagan Schreiber, Athletic Communications Student Assistant

BOULDER –
The Colorado Buffaloes tennis team (5-2) is ready for another three-match weekend, heading to Nevada to face UNLV on Friday, followed by Gonzaga and Utah Tech on Saturday.

Last Friday, the Buffs dropped a 4-0 match to Alabama, followed by a quick come back on Sunday for two 4-1 victories over Minnesota and St. Thomas.

This week, Colorado is looking to lead its series with UNLV, as the series record is currently tied at 6-6. The last two matchups have resulted in a win for the Black and Gold, at both a neutral location and on UNLV's home courts.

"Coming off a tough weekend of competition, we're ready to get back in it and face UNLV," said head coach Anthony Pham, "UNLV is a good team, Gonzaga and Utah Tech are also great opportunities for us."

The Rebels currently hold a 3-1 record, with all three wins credited by a 7-0 finish. Their solo loss was given by Big 12 opponent Iowa State, who downed the Rebels, 4-3.

Moving into Saturday, Colorado will face Gonzaga and Utah Tech, two unfamiliar foes. The Buffs hold a 2-0 series record over the Zags, their last matchup being in 2023 at Gonzaga, where the Black and Gold found a 4-2 victory.

Gonzaga also hold a 5-2 record going into Saturday's matchup and have found four perfect wins against past opponents.

As for Utah Tech, the Buffs have yet to face the Trailblazers. UT hold a 3-6 record this season, finding two wins against Weber State, and North Dakota.

"These are our last out of conference matches before we jump into Big 12 play," said Pham, "and I know the team is excited to get out and compete for three more matches this weekend."

Friday's matchup against UNLV will begin at 11 a.m. (MT). On Sunday, the Buffs will face Gonzaga at 11 a.m., followed by Utah Tech at 4 p.m. All competition will be held at the Fertitta Tennis Complex, and more information and live results can be found @cubuffstennis.

Buffs Take Down Gonzaga, Utah Tech To Close Out Non-Conference Play

By: Curtis Snyder, Associate AD/Athletic Communications

LAS VEGAS – The Colorado Buffaloes tennis team extended its win streak to five and ended a successful stint in Las Vegas with three wins after beating Gonzaga 4-1 and Utah Tech 7-0 Saturday at the Fertitta Tennis Complex to improve to 8-2 on the season.

In a total team effort, Pia Rebec and Lera Alexin were both 3-0 on the day, Rebec winning her only doubles match and both singles matches, while Alexin won both of her singles matches and one doubles match with the other one unfinished.

Additionally, Aya El Sayed, Rixt van der Werff and Anya Nelson were all 2-0 on the day while Lani Brotman went 3-1 and Heidi Crncan and Yukiko Ikedo both won a match. Willow Gretch was up with Crncan in her doubles match against Utah Tech but it didn't finish.

"A good weekend for our Buffs," Head Coach Anthony Pham said. "Playing three matches in two days is no easy task, and our group did a really good job. Gonzaga was a tricky match for us today, and we did a good job and took a mature approach to the day with Utah Tech."

The wins close out the Buffs non-conference slate for the season, as Big 12 play opens next week with a trip to play Iowa State and Kansas State.

"We're done with the non-conference schedule and headed into Big 12 play next week," Pham said. "We'll spend the next couple of days resting up and then we'll prepare for a couple of tough matches on the road. We have a few things we need to focus on to be ready next weekend but proud of our team this weekend."

The team started off conference play STRONG, as they earned a 4-0 sweep over the Cyclones in Ames. (As can be seen by the individual match scores below, I'd say it was "closer than the final score shows", but will still of course take a sweep anytime.)

Colorado improved to 9-2 overall and 1-0 in Big 12 play while Iowa State fell to 2-5 overall and 0-1 in conference matches.

Clinching the doubles point in the first two matches, the Buffs gave themselves a solid ground to find three more wins in singles to take the match.

One of those singles victories is attributed to Aya El Sayed, finding an upset over her 64th-ranked opponent at the top spot.

Lera Alexin opened play with her straight victory at five, and Lani Brotman closed the night out with her third set win at No. 4.
