'22 ND C Joe Hurlburt (Signed to COLORADO)

Happy to have him, needs to put on some weight, depending on what his role will be. Congrats to the young man.

So does CU basically have the state of North Dakota locked down for all future high D1 basketball recruits?

We got so lucky with McKinley. Hulburt references kin's senior night speech as the moment he knew he was going to commit. He's playing video games with potential recruits. Mason Faulkner also had a convo with him that helped him decided on CU. Tad might as well start paying Kin an assistant salary. Kin's the gift that just keeps giving.
It's interesting that a few years back Tad was frustrated and burnt out because of his difficulties with the personalities on his team. They were talented enough but the attitudes were selfish and they weren't a fun group for him to coach.

We talk about how Tad gets set in his ways but he really changed based on that team. He still wanted to recruit talent but he started to pay more attention to attitude, to effort, to how guys approach the team.

Kin was a perfect example. He was clearly talented but had been recruited to a mid-major (a very good mid-major but a mid-major) mostly because of his size. When the opportunity presented itself Tad decided that Kin's intangibles more than made up for his lack of height, a decision that has proven more than correct.

Now this last year we had the pleasure of watching a team that was not only talented but that really enjoyed being a team together and that included a bunch of guys who would be easy to root for even if they weren't really good players.

Really interesting now is that we are seeing very talented, and quality players who are coming to CU in part because of the personalities on the team, because this is a group that they want to be a part of.

Kin helps a lot with getting Hulburt but Hurlburt making that influence a priority in his decision says a lot about who he is as well.

This day is good.
