O Boyle just LOOKS like an Oline coach. LFG
Had my monthly dinner and drinks tonight with a very good friend/coach who played for O'Boyle at Chadron. He says we've got ourselves an absolute HOME RUN. He said everyone loves him, players love playing for him, he's smart, passionate, and a bit insane. He said once he gets his feet under him in Boulder, the stud linemen will be lining up to play for him.

Look. I love insanity. This guy looks like Goldbergs crazy cousin.

All the best OL coaches are a bit fvcked in the head...and they'll be the first to admit it.
The impact of a good OL coach is often underrated.

Fans pay attention to the football and the guys who have it in their hands but if the OL isn't effective neither are those guys.

OL isn't just a bunch of big guys sweating on each other. Individual technique is very important and you have to have 5 guys (plus the TE depending on the design) working as a unit or the offense doesn't run. Lots of this comes back to the OL coach(s.)

From the standpoint of the players getting that technique is critical if they want to play at the next level. Get into the pros and it is rare that you can dominate just based on athletic ability. The pros expect guys coming in to have a solid grasp on technique coming in, they don't have time to teach it and develop it.

My college OL coach used to preach the "Power of Five: Fingers vs Fist." On occassion he'd demonstrate which was more powerful. It was a different time.

You better be right because now we will expect nothing less than that.;)

I’m sure O’Boyle will be fine. However there’s a reason he is over 60 and never coached P5 and just spent like 4 years in a row at Kent State

In coaching the path to success is not always that obvious. There are PLENTY of really great coaches that never make it to P5.

Luck and who you know has a lot to do with it.

Best OL coach I ever had sounded and acted like Mickey from the Rocky movies. Other coaches would get in the weeds with timing and technique. He'd get frustrated at times and take us away from the OC to do live 1-on1s in the chutes while grumbling things like, "I don't care if you block him with your ass!" Good times. 😂
