Chiv is just killn' it...

Guy must've majored in marketing. If not, he deserves an honorary degree.

You guys sure put an enormous value on twitter.
Not so much that as his style and energy. I'm sure that carries over into everything he does including face to face interaction with the recruits and their parents. You can't fake that energy.

Yeah you can.

Only because thats how 18yr olds communicate now. Its an area the coaching staff has not done well in the past. The staff upgrades are changing that.

CU's social media game has been sorely lacking. I hope everyone realizes how important this is in today's world.

Its just like the uniforms. You may not understand why its a big deal or why it matters. The fact of that matter is that it does. For whatever reason it does. Because of that CU should be focusing some effort there. Apparently Chev agrees.

Every single one of these kids seems to have a twitter account. And they are all active on them. It seems like a pretty influential engagement tool to use to show them that were constantly trying to reach them. I can see the danger of not engaging them this way.

While doing something is better than doing nothing - I tend to agree, social media is great for staying in front of people for little more than effort cost, it is not great and closing high consideration purchases.

I am glad to see Chiv stepping up here CU sports as a whole needs to do better....buuuutttt.....lets close a few recruits first before we start singing the praises.

I never said it doesn't matter, and you don't have to go saying "I don't understand" twitter (or the uniforms how did that get into this?) and "educating" me that this is a vehicle 18 year olds use.

My point is some are anointing practically mythical status to a few coaches based heavily on their twitter activity. Twitter is not the be-all end-all of coaching.

No. YOU CAN'T!!!!

SIAP- I thought this would be an appropriate thread for this, but feel free to move it.

Interesting (and long) article on the influence of social media in today's recruiting. Covers everything from monitoring prospects, to the importance of creating an online brand. Also mentions Yuri's situation coming out of high school.

"We're using social media to rebrand Iowa State football," Campbell said. "We have to brand to recruits what's our style of play, who our coaches are, and what's the culture we're trying to put in place here. We're trying to create a culture that young people say, 'Man, I want to be a part of something like that,' or 'Hey, I'm interested in going to see what's going on,' and 'Why is that place special right now?'

"I never thought I would have a meeting to talk about hashtags and emojis, let alone have it be a focus in our first staff meeting. ... but stuff like that creates excitement around your program. We wanted to make sure we were generating some excitement that was tied with the new hire and the new coaches, and hopefully create momentum going forward on the recruiting trail."
