The home run of home run hires if there was any way to make it happen. Turns 58 this month.

This is the one guy who I think would rally boosters to step up immediately with whatever he said he needed and who would also be able to force pressure on the Regents/President/Chancellor/Provost to adjust policies that aren't enhancing CU's academic reputation but are harming CU's athletic performance.

I am as high on Petersen as it gets. I rank him as the best living college coach without a national championship - and above several who do have a ring.

I don't think this is a real possibility. But this is the guy you make tell you "no" after making every possible effort.

I mean… if Pete wants to come out of retirement and coach football again in a beautiful place, of course. But, this feels very cruel to even consider him a possibility for Colorado.

Obviously you have to reach out and gauge the interest. Assuming he’s totally a west coast guy, CU could benefit from the timing. USC, Oregon, and UW all have brand new coaches they’re excited about. UCLA looks good and Chip is probably safe for at least another year. You’re really looking at CU, ASU, and maybe Stanford being your openings for the next couple years. He could also try his hand in the NFL where he’d probably make sense as a replacement to Carroll in Seattle.

Great credentials, but his head isn’t in it anymore. Seemed like he was burning out towards the end. Lots of heavy sighs at press conferences, etc. He resigned as his UW program declined. Even the Mel Tucker Buffs beat him that year. He’s also still on the UW payroll with some kind of cush BS job title. He won’t take any coaching job again.

That's what I was wondering.

He was most certainly burned out at the end of his Washington tenure. However, he doesn't seem like someone who would get back into coaching as a head coach if he wasn't fully in, so I am not sure its a big deal to me.
