Coach Prime's Current Health

This is sounding so much like standard doom scripture.

Find good coach. Extend good coach. Good coach immediately develops severe health issues.

Stephen A and Molly, who are both close personally to CP, seemed pretty somber on ESPN when talking about it. Hope CP is doing well, wending love and good vibes his way.

part of me feels it's wrong to speculate about a person's health. the other part of me feels it's a totally valid topic for a message board whose primary purpose is to discuss CU athletics, especially now that's it a national sports news topic.

re: the post Yak made suggesting it was just stress.... I'm not sure that jibes. HCDS has certainly experienced stress triggers much greater than one of kids getting drafted lower than expected. I hope it's just stress over Shedeur's draft, but losing 14lbs and not feeling up to traveling to Boulder over that seems incredible.

regardless, holding a thought that Sanders recovers fully and quickly.

Yak loves him some hopium. He's not to be trusted.

A couple things... First, I said from what I heard it was stress-related that kind of stemmed from the draft slide, but I have no idea if it triggered something more serious. Second, I understand your skepticism if you are just viewing it through the "Shedeur got drafted lower than expected" lens, but I think it's much more than that for CP

Dwelling on this point... it's hard to shift through all the rumors around what happened leading up to the draft, but if HCDS feels guilt or other negative emotions around his guidance to SS2 regarding draft preparation, that makes sense.

Eg, if HCDS advised SS to not get an agent, if he advised SS to show any level of disinterest in some teams, if his parenting led to any of the rumored cockiness during interviews, if he didn't coach SS to thoroughly prepare for interviews...

... Any of those could be some heavy weight for a father to carry while being concerned he may have done things that hurt his son's future opportunities.

Again, just speculation here, trying to tie rumors together to find someone that fits

Right. It goes well beyond Shedeur falling in the draft. I think there is likely a lot of guilt and embarrassment for him. I assume this process has been a humbling one to an extent for him. He went from boasting about his son being a top 5 overall pick on many public forums to watching him become the 6th QB off the board into the 5th round, all under his guidance. The realization that you probably cost your son $40m and the best possible path to a great NFL career has to be weighing heavily.

Again, I have no idea it was "just" issues with stress, but high stress can obviously lead to a number of other health issues, including weight loss

The best stress relief would probably be a Big 12 Championship

The human body is a very complicated and finely tuned machine. It would not be unusual for stress to contribute to some other health issue or issues flaring up.

We know that Prime has some circulation issues, they have already cost him some foot and leg surgeries.

There have been studies that show the detrimental effects of a pro football diet aren't limited to the big guys. A lot of DBs and WRs have consumed far too many fat calories fueling their energy needs while playing.

Fortunately Prime has access to the best available medical care, he also has the self-discipline to follow through on what they tell him to do.

First concern is that this is something he can either get past or manage and continue with a long quality life. Second is getting him back fully functional as our coach.

He is a very sensitive man and he has evidenced that when discussing his suicide attempt. One's mental health has direct effects on their physical health.

I feel you are understating the load put on him by the SS draft fiasco. It wasn't just being drafted in a lower than expected position, it's all the claims that it was CP's fault - that he mismanaged and misdirected Shedeur. People stating it was all CPs mismanagement

I wish him the best. I think Shedeur and Shilo being successful will bring him great joy.

He’s not around them. They have new careers. He doesn’t see them every day. He doesn’t coach them. They have pushed away on another level. He’s sick. They are away. They got bad advice on no agent. It goes beyond the empty nest phenomenon.
Understand, thx.

Wow, I am truly blessed for the abundance of well wishes, for all the thoughts and all of the prayers. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! 🙏🏾

I can assure you all that everything is OKAY and will continue to be so. God got me like no other. I have so much more work to do to Glorify God so please believe God got me!

I’m so excited to be an empty nester this fall. This one doesn’t resonate with me.
There is no period of life I've enjoyed more than my time as an empty nester. Our youngest moving out was coincident with our move to CO, so it's hard to say how much was the new freedom vs the new location.

Congratulations, man. You'll love it. You'll really appreciate that you've kept your body in shape to enjoy this period of life.

My kids, 11 and 8, are up at my parents this weekend and I’m having trouble processing the tranquility and freedom.

Whenever my parents or friends ask me why I don’t want kids, I tell them this. It seems like damn near every parent I’ve heard or seen speak on parenting, while they love their kids wholeheartedly, are incredibly stressed and love when the empty nesting phase comes around.

It is without a doubt the hardest thing I have ever done in my life.

It is also, without a doubt, the best thing I have ever done in my life.

Although the last part is being questioned right now with me working from home and them on summer break...
