College Football News, Rumor & Humor

But as Carolina points out, that money takes a big hit with limited fans in the stands (at best).

I wonder what the TV contracts are like for these games? I know I'd demand a premium to play in one, and I'm sure the networks are expecting huge ratings from a sports-starved nation.

I tried to find some specifics on how these contracts terms are handled, but was not really able to find many specifics. The contract for the Bama-USC game gave a flat payout to both teams, but also apparently had a clause to renegotiate the payout if attendance was affected by NCAA penalties, which really does not apply to the current pandemic.

Idea I posted elsewhere...

Why can’t P5 Athletic Departments run a deficit for a few year (or so) and look to make it up on future revs? Is this a state budget issue?

Why not sell part of operations to a VC for a cash infusion? Discounted valuation should be fairly simple.

Thanks.

the organizers of the Chik Fil A kickoff games are doing everything they can to host a meaningful game so (1) they don't have to give back the sponsorship money to CFA (2) to try to stay relevant in the changing landscape of college sports.

“How about a side of COVID-19 with your football game, sir?”

“Yes, please. Thank you.”

Maybe I'm confused. I've read a lot about the CFA people pushing to still host one or more games. I haven't heard or read they've been advocating for in-person attendance, or more specifically that they were pushing for attendance that exceeds SD guidelines.

They want to hold the game in a state that’s not looking to advocate any COVID-19 remediation.

That coronavirus is relentless.
