I hadn't posted a roster in a long time and couldn't find an updated one for this year.

I figure this will be a good place to lay out the current players and also post the weekly depth charts as they come out. First depth chart should hopefully be after this coming Saturday's scrimmage.

For the charts, if there's an * after the name, it means he has already redshirted. If the name is in italics, it means that he is a non-scholarship player. Order players are listed by class is alphabetical by last name, scholarship players then non-scholarship.

TOTAL SCHOLARSHIPS (80)1682135

With 84 scholarship players, we could see a scholarship awarded to a walk-on during camp.

I think the above is correct. If anyone notices anything wrong (additions, subtractions, redshirting, position, etc.), please let me know so that I can update.

A few quick impressions:

1. My bet for scholarship being awarded during camp is Offerdahl. I think he'll be playing on all special teams.

2. That number for scholarship players in the junior class is troubling. That means that a lot of the guys brought in by FHCMT are gone since that class would be the redshirts from 2019 class plus the guys who played as true freshman from the 2020 class. It also points to how difficult it is for CU to bring in transfers to a junior class due to our academic rules for admission of transfers. We don't have much trouble at all with grad transfers and freshmen, but juniors are almost impossible. I'd expect to see a handful of grad transfers after this season to balance things up better and infuse talent where we'll need it.

3. OL and CB stand out as being extremely young this year. The good and bad with that is that we don't know what we're gonna get. The bad is the learning curve and the unknowns. The good is that there's opportunity for improvement and surprise (it would be really bad if we had a bunch of guys returning for their 4th & 5th years who we know can't play, so sometimes when you were bad the year before having roster turnover and youth infusion is a good thing).

I bet Anthony Lyle gets the scholarship this year since he is a senior and Offerdahl gets it next year (if one is available).

Does this mean I have to give up my Jordan Woolverton for QB1 campaign?

Thanks.

just wondering though, were you enjoying some refreshment when you put this together? Especially, the last column?

Why on earth would you carry 3 non-scholarship QBs? Speaking of comical, the "talent" behind our likely starting 5 OL is non-existent.
Also, this sets up perfectly for a 3-9 season and a "we're so young, just wait" excuse.

Missing on both Wray brothers really hurt CU.

I think the offensive line ends up as Wiley-Brown-Fenske/Johnson-Roderick-Fillip.

Key back ups would be Fenske/Johnson (whoever doesn’t win the starting C job) and Harkey. We have almost no tackle depth, so if one of the tackles goes down, you have to maybe put Brown or Roddick out there, and if it’s Wiley, then you shift Fillip to LT, and then Roddick to RT.

Lichtenhan’s development seems questionable.

For the young guys, you have to hope both Carter and Gray develop well. Gray has gotten some buzz so far, which is good.

Offensive linemen and TE are the two positions that Colorado high schools tend to churn out, so it’s sad that we are behind the 8-ball on those two group, seemingly on an endless basis.

The OL looks like a year away from finally having true depth across the board. It's disappointing they decided not to add a Tackle from the portal who was ready to compete for a starting job. Thought Brown was that guy, but I guess he's exclusively a Guard at this point.

Potentially, yes. Depends on the hit rate there on a lot of players that weren’t widely recruited.

Dorrell mentioned Roddick and Brown would move to tackle if injuries occurred. I believe he said Roddick would be first. That tells you all you need to know on the depth at tackle. Oline will be better but it still lacks talent. I think Roddick could be an all conference type player and potentially Brown could be in that honorable mention category but they will struggle again this year as a unit. No way you stay completely healthy, especially when one of your best olineman is just now starting to practice.

Gray and Edwards represent the best (potential) Tackle talent this program has had in a while, and then Harkey, Anderson and Eckhardt all having 2 full years in the program under Turley, so I guess I'm just saying with all 5 starters likely back next year, there will be a ton of experience with multiple guys at each position ready to compete for starting jobs.

There were 25 incoming Freshman and 6 transfers, so 31 new scholarship players. If your number is accurate, the rest are WOs.

I don't think +/- 31 new scholarship players is all that out of the ordinary.
Gonna become even more normal as they eliminate the scholarship limits per year and only have the rule about 85 total.

We'll see new coaches take over programs and immediately turn over the roster by 50+%.
