Men's basketball (Last season - 21-12 overall, 12-8 in the Pac 12, #74 in the NET Rankings) is scheduled to open its 2022/23 season with a home game against the UC-Riverside Highlanders (Last season - 16-12 overall, 9-6 in the Big West, #163 NET) tomorrow (Monday) evening. That will be followed up with a 2 game southern road swing starting out with a Friday (Nov. 11th) game vs. the Grambling State Tigers (Last season - 12-20 overall, 9-9 in the SWAC, #304 NET), and culminating with a BIG early season challenge facing off against the pre-season poll #11 Tennessee Volunteers (Last season - 27-8 overall, 14-4 in the SEC, #7 in the NET Rankings).

Starting off the season, quickly looking at UC- Riverside's roster and stats, they look to be returning 3 of their usual starters from last season, including their senior 6'4" G Zyon Pullin, who in 2021/22 led the team in both scoring and assists (14.3/ 4.44), while also being tied for 2nd in boards at 5.6 per game. (The other two returning starters are a 6'5" guard (grad student Flynn Cameron, 10.6 points and 4.1 rebounds / game) and a 6'7" forward (junior Wil Tattersall, 8.0 points & 3.0 rebounds/ game ). I'm sure Coach Boyle and company will also be a little nervous trying to figure out what this year's Highlander team will actually look like, as I think I counted 5-6 new incoming transfers on their squad, with 4 true and 1 redshirt freshman I assume also fighting hard for playing time.

Tomorrow's game is scheduled to be shown on Pac-12's Mountain channel, while Friday's will be streamed on ESPN+ and Sunday's televised on ESPN. (More info and links near the bottom of this post.)

Go Buffs!

Not many of us know just what we've got. I thought both Ivy transfers looked like they will be very good here, the JC looked great. All our returning guys are stronger and more experienced. It will be fun to see what player combinations, line-ups, Tad uses. LL was much improved. If he has a great year, we'll be very good. Fact is, the cupboard is full. As Rooney commented:
"Boyle has said he expects the Buffs to play fast, given he can easily play at least 10 guys every night."

note Rooney says "at least" and "easily" in regard to playing 10. I think that means, he thinks we can go 11, maybe 12 deep.
We should be wearing some teams down, here at altitude.

PS. It's 78 on the Jersey shore today. This shouldn't be happening, but it's nice

Tad on KOA. Starts by talking up LL.
Says Hadley is a "junk yard dog."
2 years ago, UC-R took USC to overtime, beat Wash, there, by 15.
Beat ASU at asu last year.

I took the Buffs to win by 3 - 6
I'm ready.

An article last week, LO say's 'what I really want is to start, but I do what helps the team..."
Good psychology, putting him on the game posters
