After having its scheduled game yesterday against ASU postponed due to Covid-19 protocol issues within the Sun Devils' program, the Buffs (13-5, 7-4, #19 in the NET rankings) are scheduled to face the Arizona Wildcats (13-7, 7-5, #45 NET) at the CU Events Center tomorrow evening. One thing both schools unfortunately have in common right now is their last game was a loss to Utah (in Arizona's case a 15 point loss in Salt Lake City yesterday), so assume both will be VERY hungry.

Edit- I didn't notice the OSU game, also in Boulder, is so soon after the Arizona game, so edited this thread to include that game. The Beavers, who face WSU tomorrow after defeating Washington by 20 yesterday and look to be playing their best ball of the season over the last 2-3 weeks, are 9-7 (5-5 in Pac 12 play), and currently stand #136 in the NET rankings.

TV coverage for the Arizona game is slated for FS1, while OSU's tilt is scheduled to be on the Pac 12 Networks.

Go Buffs!!!

- Game is scheduled to be shown on FS1. For those whose Cable/ Satellite/ Cord Cutting subscription includes access to that channel, assume the game can also be streamed through a link at https://www.foxsportsgo.com/ . Preview now out for tomorrow's game-

BOULDER — It has no doubt been a long week for the Colorado Buffaloes.

With a scheduled Thursday night game against Arizona State postponed, the Buffs have now had an entire week to first think about last Saturday's stunning loss to Utah, then put the game behind them.

Now, Tad Boyle's Buffs (13-5 overall, 7-4 Pac-12) will finally get that chance Saturday when they play host to Arizona (13-5, 7-5) in a 6 p.m. game at the CU Events Center (FS1).

The tendency, of course, is to put a "must win" tag on Saturday's game, especially in light of last week's end-of-game collapse against the Utes, when the Buffs let a 19-point lead melt away in the final eight minutes of the game.

But while the Buffs no doubt want to win — and need a win to stay firmly in position for a top-four Pac-12 finish — Boyle has stressed that there is no such thing as a make-or-break affair at this point of the season.
...

The Buffs' motivation, though, will simply be to get their season back on the right track. CU has split its last four games, with both losses coming in games the Buffs led at the half. While they put forth solid stretches in all four games, they also had significant stretches when either their offense went cold or their defense virtually disappeared.

The final eight minutes of the Utah game was a prime example. CU scored just seven points in the last seven minutes of the game while the Utes scored on 14 of their final 16 possessions.

"What it comes down to is finishing possessions," Boyle said. "Finishing possessions, whether it's offensively or defensively, and doing that more consistently. Basketball is a game of runs, a game of momentum. Every team in the country fights what we're fighting, We're not alone. It's just our droughts are a little bit longer it seems like."

The Wildcats are a young — two freshmen and one sophomore in the starting lineup — but talented team. Junior guard James Akinjo is averaging 14.6 points and 5.6 assists per game and Arizon leads the conference in scoring, averaging more than 77 points per game while shooting 45.5 percent from the floor. UA also leads the conference in 3-point shooting (.378) and has a hefty +8.5 rebound margin.

"I'm not putting too much on this one game, but it is an important game given that it is at home and we're playing a quality opponent," Boyle said. "For us to compete for a league championship or even an upper half finish, this is a critical game. From that standpoint, it's a big-time game."

NET RANKINGS: The Buffs are still the Pac-12's highest ranked team in the NCAA's NET rankings, checking in at No. 19, one spot behind USC. Other Pac-12 teams in the top 50 are UCLA (36) and Arizona (45).

WRIGHT UPDATE: Colorado senior point guard McKinley Wright IV is just 16 rebounds away from becoming the first player in Pac-12 history to score 1,600 points, collect 600 rebounds and hand out 600 assists. Wright currently stands at 1,637 points, 604 assists and 584 rebounds.

THE SERIES: Arizona holds a 21-14 all-time edge in the series, but the Buffs have a 10-3 edge in Boulder, including wins in the last three games at the Events Center.

BROADCAST: FS1 will televise the game with Jacob Tobey and Katy Winge. KOA 850 AM and 94.1 FM will carry the radio broadcast with Mark Johnson and Scott Wilke.

NEXT UP: The Buffs return to action at home on Monday with a 5 p.m. game against Oregon State (Pac-12 Networks).

So fücking stoked for this. I was totally pissed when I woke up Wed and learned the ASU game was postponed (needed to wash out memory of VT shîtting the bed at Pitt).

Huge implications for Pac12 tourney seeding -- maintaining a top 3 seed and a shot at #2.

And stoked I can watch the game through normal means.

We really need this one. I wonder if the Zona players attention is starting to wane being they can’t play in the post season.

We need to hit a high % early on. Confidence hasn't been our strong point.

Walker out 'a few weeks'. De Silva now the 4th big guy. May be he is overdue.

Holy cow. I know Arizona is shooting like dog****, but Tad’s got the boys locked the hell in. Love it.

Arizona hasn't made a field goal yet, almost 7 minutes in
At some point Arizona is going to start making buckets.

CU needs to keep the pressure on both ends of the floor. Keep playing defense even when they hit a couple possessions in a row and not get into one of their famous dead periods on offense.

Do that and this game will be a win now.

maintaining the lead with this lineup is a good sign...though Da Silva and Strating are tanking our FT%!

We used one time out. Out of that one time out we almost had a 5-second call getting the ball in bounds and then everyone stood around while McKinley Wright dribbled the ball around and then fired a contested 3-pointer that was blocked as the shot clock expired. What does Tad do in his timeouts? It baffles me.
