Curious as to what the feel is around the team? Any one got a break down of what the team should look like this year? I think Colorado has a good chance to be better than what many think.

Better than last year across the board, but Travis and Shedeur is a ton of playmaking to replace.

What about you guys?

Offense should take a step forward. Optimistic about defense but just not sure. Many think it should be a really good year because of the returning guys and a somewhat easy schedule.
You’ve got to be excited about running an offense not invented by Pop Warner. Looking forward to going back to Atlanta next year for the return game. Going to the college football HOF and a meal at The Varsity are a must.

@Techwreck47 didn’t watch enough of GT last year to know, Haynes King completing 72% seems like it’s likely a product of the system? I watched GT in two games (Georgia and the bowl game) and he seemed ok as a passer but that’s a high clip. He’s clearly an incredible runner, I’m not buying that he will do well against our secondary

Haha yes, I didn’t mind it when we had good season but it was hard to watch when it wasnt working. I’ll be up there for the game this year, any must do stuff while I’m there?

King is a very smart QB son of a Texas high school coach so he’s going to take what he’s given. So yes it’s a product of the system to an extent but he can still sling it. Last year he had a shoulder injury and we didn’t thrown down field much which helped those numbers as well. The year before was his first year as a starter for us and he threw for 61.7% if I had to guess he will be in the mid 60’s this year. Our back up QB is a better pure passer and who y’all will see in Atlanta next year. He broke Trevor Lawrence’s GA high school total yards passing record. Helped us big time against Miami and NC State to win those games.

How do yall feel about Salter? IMO he’s the guy that will either make or break yalls season.
If he can be the dynamic guy who played with poise 2 years ago when he was C-USA POY, he's got a ton of weapons and what should be a significantly improved OL. Offense should hum. But I didn't love what I saw last year. If he's erratic and doesn't take care of the ball, I don't know that his playmaking overcomes that and we could be seeing a true freshman (Juju Lewis) handed the reins. For the opener, I definitely expect you guys to see Salter.

It honestly took me a moment to figure out what "yalls" meant, but I'm not going to beat up on someone who comes here in good faith to talk football.

For Techwreck, here is a thread on what to do and where to eat on a football visit. We're probably due to update it a little, but there's some good info in there still:

Thank you! We are really excited to visit the area.

That was kind of my thoughts, which version do you get. 2023 or 2024.

I actually just reread that thread and it is not all that useful.

Maybe check in here and ask any specific gameday questions/Boulder questions when the time comes.

Regarding the team. I feel as though this has been the least energetic off-season we've seen in a while. I blame the transfer portal and political events, but I haven't gotten the sense that any of us know what to expect for this team, except perhaps a more reliable O-line (our annual expectations for that are routinely betrayed) and an overall improved defense.

It seems like GT might be quietly pretty good and could end up sneaking into the ACCCG a la Louisville 2 years ago. Sounds like RB Haynes wasn't healthy all of last season and with King back plus the WR from FIU coming in they have some real good weapons on offense.

I'm hoping next year's game doesn't get moved to Mercedes Benz.

A lot of people think we have a shot at the ACCCG. IMO it all depends on how well the defense plays. Haynes played a lot of last year injured as did King, we need both healthy. On the OL both guards are returning and our freshman all American LT was injured last year but came back strong late in the season, he’s going into his junior season. At center idk who’s gonna start but our right tackle should be a transfer we picked up in Carney and he’s pretty good. At WR we have some really good guys. I say all that to say offense shouldnt be our issue.

On defense LB should be a strength, on DL we have no clue because of DE, our top 3 guys will be transfers. DT should be really solid though. Secondary is another group we just don’t know. We struggled at times last year but picked up some really good transfers.

The games I saw of you guys last year seemed to be determined mostly by your OL. When it was getting a consistent push and not allowing penetration, it was allowing your defense to rest and putting so much pressure on the opposing offense to answer or to jump on you to force your offense to be more pass heavy than you wanted to be.

I'm kind of thinking our game could be a smashmouth where we see who came out of camp in better condition to deal with that sort of game at altitude.

Definitely in the run game. Hard to match Shedeur's mix of big plays and ball security, though. I expect we'll see an offense that's more traditionally on schedule, which will be good for my blood pressure.
Agree, and I’m hoping a lot less sacks / more throwing the ball away…if necessary…which I hope it’s not.

(Can’t argue with how clutch Hunter was though)

Way better than you'se
Meaning Go On GIF

This is a good assessment, our OL should have much better depth this year. Last year we had two main guys with injuries and one played through them. It really hurt us at times. I agree, GT plays a brand of smash mouth football and that’s why they are going to try and do. Luckily for CU, the DL seems like it could be pretty good for y’all.

Excellent use of the apostrophe!

Your transfers on D look OK on paper, but some analysts aren't sold. Your O gets a lot of love. Should be a good game.
