WOW, MORE WILDCATS: Colorado will face Kansas State for the first time this season and for the 50th time in program history. Though it's the teams' 50th meet up, the two will match up for the first time since 2010, a five-set thriller in Manhattan, Kan., resulting in a Wildcat victory (Nov. 27, 2010).

CALLING ALL COUGARS: The Buffs will go head-to-head with the Cougars for the first time this season and only the seventh time ever. The last time Colorado faced Houston was in a neutral match in 1994 in Columbus, Ohio, where the Buffs swept the Cougars (Sept. 10, 1994). CU has won the last four match ups against Houston.

A TIGHT 1st set through the halfway point goes the Buffs' way after a. ~6 point scoring run with Morton serving broke open a 17 all score and CU goes up 1-0 by a 25-21 score

The Buffs started the 2nd strong to go up 5-0, then kept pretty good control until a decent serving run got KSU back to 2 down late. Thankfully the Buffs scored the last 2 to get another 25-21 set win and go up 2-0.

nice win. good to see a sweep and really nice to see Jahara play. Would love to see them close it out with a win over Houston

BOULDER – The Colorado volleyball team (13-16, 6-11 Big 12) defeated the Kansas State Wildcats (10-16, 8-9 Big 12) in three sets (25-21, 25-21, 25-21) at CU Events Center on Wednesday afternoon.

The Buff seniors led the team to beat the Wildcats in a sweep. All five seniors were able to aid Colorado in its win over Kansas State.

"Really exciting match," head coach Jesse Mahoney stated. "Won [in] three at home on senior day. Everyone shared in the victory. Everyone got an opportunity. I was really excited for the level of play and excited that all the seniors got in and had an opportunity to help us out and help us win. Winning is fun. It's been a little bit of a tough go, but I've been really proud with how our players have handled adversity. Really proud of them for getting it today."

Colorado out-blocked Kansas State with six total blocks, and the Buffs held the Wildcats to .190 hitting. CU also out-aced Kansas State with seven service aces.

During today's match, we recognized all five seniors in defensive specialist Emma Torstenson, defensive specialist Emilea Stepaniuk, outside hitter Jahara Campbell, middle blocker Bella Simkus and setter Taylor Simpson. After the game, the seniors reflected on the game.

"I think with the friendships that we've created on our team, it really does not matter how old you are, who's playing, who's not," Simkus said. "We all are really such great friends. I think that's like a standard that was set before we got here, and it's one that I believe will continue forever. I think that's one of the best things I'm going to take and leave from here."

It's the season ender today in Houston.

Hope the team ends the season STRONG!

(Looking at the standings ( https://big12sports.com/standings.aspx?standings=203&path=vb), CU is in a tie for 9th, and are slotted to finish either in solo 9th (Houston is who they're tied with) or in a tie for 10th. So, looks like the coaches, who in their conference preseason poll had the Buffs finishing 10th, were pretty accurate as far as it comes to them.

They were off for the other Pac 12 imports, as the other 3 have all exceeded expectations, with #9 ASU having been picked to finish 3rd but are the Big 12 champs, Utah was picked to finish 9th but are tied for 3rd and Arizona was picked 12th and have finished their year in 7th.)

last week was a micro view of the entire season. Sweep Kstate and get swept by a bad Houston team. I really hope next year is better
