BOULDER — The University of Colorado women's volleyball team looks to snap a three-game conference losing streak this weekend when hosting UCLA Friday at 6 p.m. MT, followed by No. 24 USC at noon Sunday.

The Buffaloes (13-7, 5-5 Pac-12) are tied for sixth in the Pac-12. Earlier this season, CU lost to the second-ranked Trojans in four sets before taking down UCLA at Pauley Pavilion.

Defensively, Colorado currently ranks 13th in the NCAA and second in the Pac-12 for blocking, averaging 2.71 blocks a set. Alexia Kuehl and Meegan Hart have both tallied 88 blocks this season, 39 more than any other player on the team. Hart is also seventh in the NCAA in hitting percentage at .424.

Maya Tabron and Lexi Hadrych lead the Buffs' offense in kills per set, with both players averaging more than three. Tabron posted 13 kills against USC and 17 kills against UCLA when the teams met earlier this season, hitting over .300 for both matches.

Running the dynamic offense are setters Taylor Simpson and Brynna DeLuzio, earning 8.39 and 2.43 assists a set respectively. DeLuzio is also averaging 2.17 digs a set while libero Katie Lougeay is averaging 3.38 digs each game.

Friday's game against UCLA will be featured on the Pac-12 Networks and Sunday's match versus USC will be shown on Colorado's live stream.

Wanted to mention I'm travelling, and with the time difference will probably not be watching this evening's match or providing any updates.

Saw a brief video of the alumni. Rachel Irwin, Nicole Edelman, Joslyn Hayes etc. Did I see Taylor Simpson holding a baby?

BOULDER — The University of Colorado women's volleyball team defeated UCLA in four sets (25-23, 18-25, 25-15, 26-24), sweeping the season series over the Bruins for the first time in team history.

The Buffs (14-7, 6-5 Pac12) took down the Bruins (10-10, 4-7 Pac12) while committing seven less errors and recording five more total blocks.

Meegan Hart had an amazing night on both ends as she racked up 12 total kills while hitting an impressive .455. She ranked second in blocks among all players with five. Lexi Hadrych had a great all-around performance as well with 12 kills, four blocks and five digs.

"I want to give credit to our passing," Hart said. "They did an excellent job passing at putting the ball up. Our setters were putting me in a great position. I tried to do my job and put the ball away. Overall, I had fun and a shout-out to my teammates."

Maya Tabron led the Buffs in kills which she also did in the first meeting between the two teams this season. She had 14 kills to go along with her seven digs and single block. Brynna DeLuzio recorded a double-double as she totaled 15 assists and 12 digs while committing zero errors.

The Buffs' defense held the Bruins under a .136 hitting percentage in three of the four sets which seemed to be the difference maker tonight.

"Obviously it was good when getting the season sweep on UCLA," Colorado head coach Jesse Mahoney said. "So, we're really excited about that. And UCLA's a really good team, really athletic. And I'm really happy with how we executed, how we defended, how we blocked. I think it was a little bit of a tough night for us offensively from time to time. We hit below 200, but we held them below 150."

Colorado will face off against Southern California on Sunday at noon to close out the weekend.

"We did what we needed to do to win in that fourth set," Mahoney said. "We gave up an early lead, but caught them towards the end and made some really nice play. So really great win. I think coming off the first half, it's good to start the second half inn a positive way and we get a great team (USC) here on Sunday."

I think this puts our Buffs in good position for an at-large bid. Computers had UCLA right with us and USC a bit ahead. This was a very good & needed weekend.

BOULDER — Colorado women's volleyball closed out homecoming weekend, taking down No. 24 USC in four sets (20-25, 25-22, 25-19, 25-20) here Sunday afternoon to earn its third-ever victory over Southern Cal in program history.

The Buffaloes (15-7, 7-5 Pac-12) defeated the Trojans (16-7, 8-4 Pac-12) after recording 10 service aces and committing only 14 errors compared to USC's 28. This marks the first time ever that CU has swept the LA schools in the same weekend.

Lexi Hadrych, Maya Tabron and Meegan Hart each had nine kills and four blocks for Colorado this afternoon. Out of the three, Hart had the best hitting percentage as she hit .529, leading all players. Tabron recorded five digs, an assist, and two service aces as well.

Alexia Kuehl had an impressive outing with seven of the team's 14 blocks while also racking up five kills on the offensive end. Brynna DeLuzio had 11 assists and 18 digs to put up a double-double for the second straight match. Sterling Parker made her way back into the starting lineup for the Buffs and recorded eight kills and three blocks.

Despite having 17 less kills and 15 less assists than Southern Cal, Colorado was able to play a clean match offensively down the stretch and limit the Trojans' hitters.

The Buffs will shift their focus to the other California schools next week when they take on Cal in Berkeley on Friday, Nov. 4th and Stanford on Sunday, Nov. 6th.

QUOTES
Head Coach Jesse Mahoney

On Beating USC For The Third Time In Buffs History
"Great match. The third time, I think probably the first time we've swept the LA schools on a weekend so we're pretty excited about that. I was just really proud of our team all weekend really, having a lot of grit, finding ways to win, and coming back when we've lost sets. USC was really good in the first set, hitting the 500 range, and we were able to withstand that and kind of be disciplined in what we do from the serving and defensive standpoints. I think we score by the committee today, I think we had a lot of kids with 7,8,9 kills, which isn't always ideal, but it's we definitely grinded it out. USC didn't have one of their premier players in the league that they usually do, but they're a good staff and have a lot of really talented kids and they were a tough matchup for us today. I'm excited about how we're playing in the second half after finishing the first half on a little bit of a down note. This team really has done a good job of flipping the script a little bit and I'm excited about where we are."

On The Service Good
"Definitely the flip side of the coin from the last time we played them. I thought all weekends we've been serving especially tough, hitting the zones that we need to, and I didn't realize we had 10 Aces, but I knew we were getting them out of the system quite a bit and really doing a nice job in transition. I'll take that 10 to six any day. I'm excited about that."

USC's best hitter (and one of the best in the conference) was on crutches and wearing a boot. Buffs took advantage of their opportunity. Might have been a different result had Fields been playing for USC.

I don't care if their best player was injured. Her substitute had an outstanding match.

By this time of the season, lots of players are hurting. I'm sure we have the walking wounded playing on our team.

We won and I will take that.

Congrats Meegan!!!!

We are now the last team in the receiving votes category. We didn't want to be on that list. ;)
