BOULDER – Colorado volleyball heads to Oregon to kick off the second half of the Pac-12 conference schedule Friday at Oregon State at 8 p.m. MT and Sunday at 1 p.m. MT against No.17-ranked Oregon.

The Buffaloes (12-7, 3-7 Pac-12) lost a pair of matches against the Arizona schools at home last weekend and look to rebound in the second half of conference. CU has finished the same or better in the second half of conference play in the past four seasons.

Friday's match will be on the Pac-12 Network Oregon channel while the Sunday match will be on the Oregon Live Stream.

The Beavers (3-17, 1-9 Pac-12) defeated Cal in three sets at home but have since lost four-straight matches. Outside of their three wins, the team has only won five sets and has only won four sets in conference, including the sweep of Cal.

They have had three five-set matches in conference since seeing the Buffs, including five-set wins against Stanford and at USC. They also lost in five sets at home against Washington.

match has begun and just as I tuned in the beavers have pulled ahead, and lead 13-18 in the 1st set.

The Buffs can't quite comeback and lose the 1st set 22-25, but did play much better late and hopefully gained some momentum for the next set.

Phew- Buffs can't convert on the 1st couple set points and lose a decent-size late lead, but still take a 2-1 set lead after a 26-24 3rd set win.

The Buffs save some of their best ball for late, and convert a 9-13 deficit and tie set match as late at 16 all to win the 4th set 25-19 and match 3-1.

Way to go Buffs!!!

CORVALLIS, Ore. -- It was a night for career highs, and the Colorado Volleyball team needed all of them to knock off Oregon State 3-1 (22-25, 25-18, 26-24, 25-19) here at Gill Coliseum Friday night.

Jenna Ewert and Brynna DeLuzio both set new career highs for digs, DeLuzio getting 30 and Ewert 23. Ewert added 37 assists, four blocks, three kills and three aces in a well-rounded effort.

"Those two won that match for us," CU coach Jesse Mahoney said. "Jenna is on a bit of a bum wheel, she was fantastic. And that is as good as I've seen Brynna play."

DeLuzio's previous career high for digs was 28 against Illinois earlier this season. Ewert hit the 20-dig mark for the first time and thus recorded her first 20-20 match. Her previous career best was 19 digs two times, including against Colorado State earlier this season.

Offensively, Maya Tabron registered a career high 19 kills, the second straight match she's set or tied her career best performance, and added 11 digs. Jill Schneggenburger added a double-double with 10 kills and 13 digs.

The win snaps a three-match losing streak and improves the Buffs to 13-7 overall and 4-7 in league play. The Beavers fall to 3-18 overall and 1-10 in conference action.

The Buffs remain in Oregon to take on the Ducks Sunday.

JESSE MAHONEY QUOTES:
On Getting A Road Win

"Everyone in this league is really good and everyone's really good on their home floor. We took care of this team in the first round at our place. They are a team fighting to get wins and I'm sure it felt like this was one that they could get. You saw on the first set. I thought they they played really well with a lot of energy and it took us a set-and-a-half to kind of match that energy but once we did, I felt like we played well. If we're not making errors, we're pretty good and we can play with anybody."

On The Third Set
"The third set is the the key in every match. That one came down to the wire we were up and and gave away some points, but found a way to execute at the end and I thought we played a really nice fourth set afterwards.

On Jenna Ewert And Brynna DeLuzio
"Jenna obviously is really good. There are a lot of good setters out there but she does everything well. She serves well, blocks well, defends, and she was on a bum wheel. And you have to account for her as an attacker, as well. And Brynna, that was as good as I've seen her play. Those two kids won that match for us.

I wish I had stayed up to watch this.

Nice win Buffs and great match from Brynna and Jenna.

Buffs with a nice start, taking the 1st set 25-20. (The Ducks erased the early deficit I mentioned in the last post, and it was close until the Buffs slowly pulled away after it was tied at 17.)

The 2nd set was a reverse mirror of the 1st set, as the Ducks got up big early, the Buffs came back and got it within 1 a little over midway through the set, but then the Ducks finished it off 22-25 to tie it 1-1.

Then, the 3rd set started off much closer than the other 2, but after a 12 all score the Buffs take over, especially late, and go up 2-1 after a 25-17 score.

Finish them off Buffs!

The Buffs are going to have to turn momentum QUICKLY, as a relatively close 4th set early turns ugly, with the Ducks forcing a 5th set by a 16-25 score.

Heartbreaker as the Buffs can't finish it off at 14-12 and eventually lose 17-19.

Most importantly, the team looking much better as their young outside hitters and defensive specialist get more experience.

Ugh! That would have been a nice road win against a ranked team (so close!) and a nice road trip overall.

Damn! That sucks! Hate it when you're at match point and then it slips away.
Seen it happen more times than I care to remember with my boys' teams including an epic 41-43 in the 3rd set at Nationals for my twins' club team vs. #3 team in the nation.

With the exception of Set 4, I thought the Buffs played quite well. I don't know what kind of leg injury Ewert has, but she does her best not to let it slow her down.

Aside from getting that Match Point finished, they did enough to win but ended with with a loss on the road against the #17 ranked team.

I get the Big 10 network and I watched **** Nebraska lose to Minnesota last night. Minnesota was lucky to win because they had problems closing sets out. It also went 5 sets.
