Not since Colorado's 38-24 win over Wazzu on the 19th of November, a game in which Phil Lindsay scored twice and rushed for 144 yards, have we seen a similar performance from our beloved redshirt junior tailback.
Not trying to rip the guy (especially on Christmas!)...he's faced two stout defenses since then in Utah and Washington, but still, vs. Oklahoma State, Lindsay will be needed. Games in which he has his way with enemy defenses has made contests extremely more winnable for the Buffs.
He's not eclipsed his season yards per carry average of 5.17 yards in a game since his insane performance vs. ASU, which I think undoubtedly has helped to keep that number where it is heading into the bowl game.
Lindsay has been kept under 60 total yards on the ground since Colorado's win over Wazzu and has seen his threat as a tailback that hurts teams through the air catching passess diminished as well. Lindsay has just 79 receiving yards in Colorado's last three contests.
Colorado will face a Cowboys defense that allows 4.7 TPC and just over 200 rushing yards per game. Over the last month, in its last four games vs. Kansas State, Texas Tech, TCU and Oklahoma, the Cowboys have given up YPC averages of 6.16, 3.22, 3.72 and 6.56 to these respective squads. That averages out to about a 4.9 YPC average for OSU in its last month of games.
Let us hope that this will be good news for Phil Lindsay. I'd personally ove to see him be a big factor in Colorado winning this game.
