Coach Prime will be showcased nationwide to start his tenure in Boulder.
The Coach Prime effect is a massive one for the Colorado Buffaloes.
After details of the TCU opener were announced earlier this month, an additional four start times and broadcast partners were revealed by CU athletics via the Pac-12 Conference on Wednesday.
Among the notable surprises going into the season will be a back-to-back open on FOX. The season kicks off with a TCU road trip on Sept. 2 followed by an old rivalry renewed with Nebraska at Folsom on Sept. 9. The Rocky Mountain Showdown with Colorado State is scheduled later than usual to accommodate the other non-conference offerings. But, nonetheless, it will be a rare on-campus event for the Buffs and Rams on Sept. 16 with ESPN carrying the coverage this year.
“We are extremely honored to be chosen to appear on multiple networks to start this epic season,” Coach Prime said. “The exposure this provides to our student-athletes is one reason they came to the University of Colorado. ‘We Coming.’ “
CU’s first two games of the Coach Prime era will air on network television, the first time that has happened in CU history, according to CU athletics.
Colorado picked up two Friday night games this season with Stanford on Oct. 13, which will air at 8 p.m. on ESPN. A road game at Pullman with Washington State on Nov. 17, which will air at 8:30 p.m. MT on FS1.
This means nearly half of CU’s games will be broadcast to a national audience this season on FOX, ESPN, and FS1.
With the two games slated for ESPN, they will be the 50th and 51st games on the main ESPN channel for the Buffs and the 76th on ESPN platforms including nine on ABC since ABC sports was merged into ESPN in 2006, according to CU athletics.
CU football season tickets for the 2023 season are sold out for the first time in decades.
