PANTHERS BAG BRAYTON

With veteran Mike Rucker likely to sign with another team (after he returns from a current trip to Afghanistan), the Panthers are making plans for life without him by signing free-agent Tyler Brayton.

Per Adam Caplan of Scout.com, Brayton signed a two-year deal with the Panthers. He'll compete with Charles Johnson for playing time on the right edge of the defensive line.

Caplan reports that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Denver Broncos, Detroit Lions, and Cincinnati Bengals also showed interest in Brayton, who was a first-round pick of the Oakland Raiders in 2003.

Good luck to him although he underachieved as a Raider. In other not so recent Buff NFL alum news, Chris Naeole was released by the Jags.

I don't think so. Tyler has a great rep in the league for being a hard worker. But he didn't really do that well in Oakland. That's on him. Not douchebag Al.

Hopefully a change in scenery is what Tyler needed.

His agent says he's "really, really excited" to be here, so as you said, hopefully it does work out for him.
