Big XII BCS Championship

I was thinking (something that is dangerous, and I should leave to others).
If somehow lets say Texas and OU both win out the rest of their seasons, Texas wins the Big XII Championship, and they end up 1 and 2. Would the both go to the National Championship? Or would OU get screwed and a hypothetical #3 Florida go? That is what I would see happening. Thoughts?

what about a one loss USC, or a one loss Penn St or a one loss Ohio St ??
How about a Utah team that runs the table ?

Yeah, that's the point I'm making. What if a one loss OU finishes #2 and #3 is a one loss Florida, USC, Ohio St.......ect. Does #2 get screwed? Would the BCS let two teams from the same confrence into the Championship? Has it ever happened before?
 
It's not a matter of whether the BCS would "let" 2 teams from the same conference playing in the NC game, it all really depends on things shake out. I think a 1-loss SEC coming off a win in the SEC championship game would likely vault ahead of OU. The Sooners would definitely finish ahead of Ohio State though.
 
I don't think the BCS will ever let a team that didn't win its own division within a conference ever play for a national title again after the slaughter that was Miami - Fuskers.

But there's no "BCS committee" that would not allow this to happen, it simply depends on where the teams end up in the coaches, Harris, and computer polls.

Now would the voters in the Harris and coaches polls possibly vote a 1-loss team a little lower because they didn't win their division of a conference? Sure...

I don't have a problem with a team that didn't win their division ending up in the NC game if they're one of the 2 best teams based on their body of work for the season.

The best thing for a playoff would be for OU to play Texas in the BCS Championship game.

With that said, the realistic possibilities of teams in the BCS:

Undefeated's
Texas
Alabama
Penn State
Texas Tech
Oklahoma State
Utah
Boise State
Ball State

1 losser's
USC
Ohio State
Oklahoma
Georgia
Florida
LSU
South Florida
TCU
Pittsburgh
Georgia Tech
BYU
Northwestern
Florida State
Minnesota

HOLY SH.....!

It's too early to tell....... this discussion is way to premature with several of the teams playing each other. Even the heavy favorite Texas team has to play Tech and OSU (both undefeateds).

No they don't get screwed. If you don't win your conference or even play in the CCG then you don't deserve to play in the BSBCS.

Lets just say there are no undefeated teams except Texas. So OU's only loss would be to a #1 Texas and no the opportunity for them to play in a conference championship game is not there. Still their only loss would be to the only undefeated/#1 team. Why not get the chance at the National championship. Or would they. I would give it to them.

IMO until we get a playoff system a team that doesn't win their conference doesn't belong in the BSBCS.

I don't agree. You could win the Big XII without a great record. And in this situation the only reason OU wouldn't is because they are in the south and lost to a #1 Texas. (This is assuming the both win out the rest of the season)

There's no reason that that the 2 best teams in the country can't be from the same division of a conference.

I don't agree with you because if the entire college season is supposed to be a playoff like we're told time and time again to believe, then OU had their shot. Texas shouldn't have to beat OU twice to win a title while OU would only have to beat them once out of two.
 
Ok lets really f*** s*** up now. Lets say a Big XII North teams only loss was to OU (shorter to type and realistic) and OU's only loss was to this North team in the Conf. Chmpnshp. And with out a doubt they are the #1 & #2 with some other one loss teams behind them. Who happened to lose to lesser schools. Now what? They wouldn't let the same team play each other 3 times would they. Someone gets screwed.

Note that this is all hypothetical and my mind is just running wild. I like hearing your thoughts on this.

The only way that is true is if they put a rule in place that eliminates teams that don't win their conference. That is not a factor so it is a real possibility that OU can play Texas because OU's only loss will be Texas and Florida's wil be an unranked Ole Miss team, PSU wil be an OSU team ranked but not number 1.
 
Wow, all these posts and no right answer. The right answer is yes, they could EASILY be the two teams that play in BCS Title Game ........ finishing #1 and #2 in the BCS standings. That's it.

It'd help of course if USC and Ohio State lose another game, and the SEC Title Game is an upset. Those thgings would help, but they're not necessary.

The only 1 loss team that has a shot to play for the NC that isn't in the SEC or Big12 is USC.

Then the team that won the CCG won that playoff.

I guess what I am saying is that if I had a vote in one of the polls at the end of the season my vote would change to putting the previously #3 team over the #2 that didn't win their conference.

Ok, However in my world #3 doesn't have a Conferance Championship game and their one loss came to ........ Prairie View A&M. Not a top 5 ranked team.

The big 11 would be banned from my top 2 votes until they got a CCG. The Pac 10 has enough success in the past 10 years to earn a temporary exemption but are on a short leash. My #2 would automatically go to any non-BSBCS team that was undefeated just to push for a playoff.

I give the Pac10 a pass because everyone in that league plays everyone else.

This isn't true with the Big 11.
 
I want to see Ball St., Boise St., and Utah all undefeated going into bowls and everyone else have at least 2 losses.

If that happened we would surely have to get a playoff system implemented.

Whatever messes up this BCS crap the most, I am all for it. Force the big/pac10 to have a championship game, and ND needs to join a conference or close up shop.

That is a dumb rule to live by--what if Texas goes undefeated, OU only has one loss and everyone else has two losses--would you still say OU doesn't belong--plus, the BIG XII is arguably the best conference, unlike the Big 10 with Michigan and OSU two years ago. Look at OU's remaining schedule versus Florida, USC, OSU, Penn State, and Alabama--if those teams all end up with one loss how could you not give the bump to OU based on their competition.

Your first scenario while possible is unlikely. The remaining schedule doesn't factor in my opinion since as someone else has already said that the BSBCS division claims that the regular season is the playoff. They lost their playoff game.
