We played a lot of young guys in 2008. Shouldn't some of those names be popping up on lists like this?

Our best bets for those list went down with injury. (Stewart and Miller).

Miller is not a freshman.
How in the world was Julio Jones not on that list? The kid played as though he had been at Bama for 4 years! That list has zero credibility
... I can't think of a Single player on our team who stands out in any way.
Stewart. Anddddd.... Stewart?
Granted didn't get to see Miller the whole way through. but he didn't ever seem to dominate.
And people keep bringing up our linebacking core. Major, Katoa, .. honestly . I STill am going to have to say that they were by and far the WORST part of the team this year. ..

This guy loses all credibility when Julio Jones is not on that list...![]()
I can't imagine the Buffs getting the same kind of critical injuries next season as they went through this year. Our depth should be much better next season and still remain young and very experienced at the same time.
I'll post this one here as well. This year, we had 50 Freshmen and 22 Sophomores out of 107 players. That is 67%. Optimum would be 50%. Our two deep on offense as of November 23rd had 14 freshmen/sophomores. Our two deep on defense consisted of 12 freshmen/sophomores. This doesn't count guys out for the season like Miller or Mariner. It doesn't count guys out for academics like Simas or Obi. It doesn't count red shirts like Major (injured) or Polk. Add Katoa to that as well.
Some so called "fans" of the team decry the coaching staff for poor coaching and play calling. What the hell? How do you put a patchwork team together, throw out at least half the play book, and have the ability to run the stuff you want to run?
this is the first time I heard that Obi was out on academics. He played in a few games early. What's the story?
Oops. Maybe I was wrong there. Someone please correct me. Who were the academic guys, not that it matters.
Tau - OT
Simas - WR
Faatagi - OG
Obi was eligible but didn't play in the last 4 games. I thought maybe the staff held him out b/c of mid-term issues or something (rather than NCAA).
I was thinking he would emerge this year as a big time player of the future and instead, he saw 12 plays. Larson saw 6, Shields saw 4, Kaynor 20, Goree 89, and Cunningham (true FR) saw 145. That's our DL next year!
2008 was an aberration because of the injuries, transfers, benchings, and bootings. I'd say that next year will produce a better record and probably a bowl berth. I still see this team as very young and inexperienced. However, they are more experienced and thus, barring injury, should play better next year.
During the banquet Hawk said he expects the team to win 10 games next year. Now that is putting yourself out there! He also said next year there are no excuses.
Does that mean if we don't have a winning record we can call out our coaching staff? I don't want to see just a winning record I expect at least 8 wins or I'll be disappointed.
That's how I feel, too. Minimum should be 7 wins for Hawk to keep his job, IMO. I won't be happy unless they get 8 or more wins.
