I could see Will working in at DE in the 3-4 alignments along with playing inside when they are in more of a 4-3 set.
Either way, I maintain that the DL is going to surprise this season, in the same vane that the DB's did last year.
There are no 3-4 alignments, I think that's been put to bed with some recent confirmation from Bandison. They are always in a 4-3, sometimes with a LB lining up at DE. He said he will always have two big bodies in the middle and thus the other DE will be Herrod or whoever can bring the heat best. That won't be Will P.
Well, I can still see Pericak playing some DE if he's needed there in addition to playing inside.
I've been gone for a few days, when did they talk about no 3-4?

I still have to wonder about him playing DT. He must have really bulked up if that's where they want him. Bonsu comes in with that bulk already on the frame, which makes it easier to adjust to playing there. Will has had to put on weight and worry about making the adjustment to playing a new position.
As much as I love the kid, I don't think he'll contribute much this year. I hope I'm wrong, he's got a motor and hits like a bus.
Uh..."scuse me?:wow: Will's now at 280....bulky enough for DT, while Bonsu is essentially a NOSE tackle, a position which he played for the Texas HS 5A champs. They're not really competing for the exact same position.
As for Will, he put 35 lbs over the course of a yearunder tutelage of Pit, so it ain't jes' fat and has now practiced two full fall camps, (one redshirted) and spring ball at DT. If a 3.97 student such as WP, can't learn the DT position during that time, going against the likes of Iltis, Miller, Solder and Givens in drill work and scrimmages, there's little damned hope for anyone else! On top of it all, he graded out well on regular scout team duty last fall as a first-time DT!
Will ain't learning, while gaining both size and strength anymore---Don't you bother to read the players bio's?
Since Bandison said he likes to rotate players, I expect Pericak to be a regular contributor on the field this fall.

this is why I said what I said.Read the players bio? How about this: I saw every single home game the kid ever played at BHS. I saw every tackle, every play. I saw it from a vantage point that's better than the coaches get. I've seen him play one hell of a lot more than 99.99% of the rest of the world. I've heard he's bulked up, but I haven't seen it. He hasn't played a down of football for CU - yet. I remember the kid from when he was a freak of a LB playing at 230 lbs soaking wet. Pardon me if I have reservations about moving a kid from his natural position to one where he needs to add 40 lbs to his frame in order to be successful. I'm not saying it shouldn't be done, that he isn't coming out of High School, like Bonsu is, with the weight already on the frame, and THAT is why Bonsu may be ahead of him on the depth chart. And before you go all nuclear on me again, you should know that I'm probably the biggest Pericak fan around. I really hope he does well.
I liked lil bunky's post...

 I was just funnin'....way to take a side lefty.:drink2:

sackman;496534 .....He was a LB. That's his natural position until he plays something else........[/QUOTE said:Roger and Wilco!
Sooooo, all that liftin' and dietin' and practicin' and scrimmagin' and general tomfoolery on scout teams, ALL OF WHICH WAS AT or designed for DT, don't mean squat! But one play at DT, in a real live game, does! One play can define a "natural position"!
Gotcha! Well why din't yer say so!

As the great Ronald Reagan said in his debate with Jimmah the Doofus, "There you go again!"
Your quote, "...needs to add 40 lbs..." is a world of difference from "has added 35 lbs..." which you admit you have't seen or presumably weighed. That would make him just a couple lbs. short of what both Hypolite and Nicholas played at last year. I further recall Hypo started his DT career (shifted from RB) as a true frosh at about 240, without benefit of a RS year. I think Hypo ended up okay.
If you're the big fan you claim, why the doubt? Are you saying he won't be successful, because he's been moved from "his natural position" to a different position and now you're setting up the coaching staff for a claim of a major f***-up if he fails? (Which he very likely won't). So soooorry if you think I went "nuclear" on you, I just didn't like what originally appeared as negative hand-wringing post about a talented local kid (I saw him play in HS, too; though living in Denver, not "dozens" of times) who I believe will contribute this year!!! Didn't realize you were an expert at "natural positions" in football!
