What's going on?
Can't we do a little better than another Stoops stooge.
Well...unless you know something?

I was thinking the same thing. Seems like a pretty strong endorsement to me.Yeah why would we want a coach who has consistently had one of the best defenses in college football on our team....
And Mangino, Leach, little brother Stoops have all been horrible.. The only coach who hasn't performed well was Chuck Long - and he made the mistake of taking the first job that offered.
Yeah, if Kansas State (his alma mater) didn't offer him the job before they hired Snyder, then there must be red flags.
I'm sure he is more than qualified to be a BCS head coach, but he's been in the rumor-mill for 3 years now and gotten interviewed for at least one (Clemson), with no offers that I can tell.

You'd be silly to think Stoops doesn't play a key part in the success of their defense, their defense did not drop off at any time after Mike Stoops left and that in my opinion is thanks to Bob being defensive minded.Yeah why would we want a coach who has consistently had one of the best defenses in college football on our team....
Mangino is on his way out for being a SOB.And Mangino, Leach, little brother Stoops have all been horrible.. The only coach who hasn't performed well was Chuck Long - and he made the mistake of taking the first job that offered.

Of course hes the DC by title, but what specific position development have you seen him make progress in?
Mangino is on his way out for being a SOB.
Leach is a pirate SOB.
Mike Stoops was on his way out until last season.
However a point even you condone is that the more successful assistants under Bob Stoops are those who handle the offense, you can even include Sumlin in that group aswell. Oklahoma's offense is a clear product of the coordinator at the time rather than Bob Stoops.
Given that I am in Norman, I can assure you that Brent Venebles is 100% in charge of the defense. Certainly Bob gives his input - just as he does on the entire defense - but the coach who is calling the defense all game long is Brent, not Bob.

Why not Kevin Wilson than Brent Venables?
is venables really a good fit for boulder?
he's a hot head who is known to rub people the wrong way.
he's currently at a school with every resource in the world that is absolutely and primarily dedicated to winning football games. when you talk about "football factories," ou is the poster child. don't get me wrong; i am not critical of that part of it... i am just saying that it isn't the same as boulder.
venables is a proven, good coordinator at a major program, but is he a boulder type of a coach? i dunno...

Oklahoma, not Brent Venables.
Not really.Doesn't pretty much every top-flight head coach in the country fit this description?
Who says Brent Venebles is a hot head?!!? That is a new one.
I have heard both brothers Stoops were hotheads, but that is certainly not the reputation Venebles has in Oklahoma.
And I have never heard of these so-called "character" issues. Mike Stoops liked to fool around with OU co-eds, but those rumors have never followed Venebles.
Oklahoma, not Brent Venables.
On that topic look at #4,TCU
We oughta look at Dick Bumpus(great name btw) to run our defense.
How do you think Venables would fit at Colorado?
Do you think he'd be able to successfully sell the program to good recruits? Win a recruiting battle against Bob Stoops or Mack Brown in Texas for a good recruit?
Why does Kevin Wilson not receive much interest as a HC candidate?
Not this season, but in previous seasons their offense was better than their defense.Sorry I was under the impression you were saying the Oklahoma offense is better then their defense.
From what standpoint?I have no idea how Venebles would fit in in Boulder. He is a different coach than anything Boulder has seen in a long time.
