1 practice after spring game

MacIntyre says he is one of relatively few coaches across the country who likes to have one of the 15 allowable spring practices after the spring game. He said the Buffs will meet and review film of the spring game on Monday, April 15 and then head to the field one last time to work on the mistakes they made.He said he also likes having a practice after the spring game in order to provide players some direction for summer workouts. The NCAA does not allow coaches to work with players from the end of spring ball until fall camp begins in August.
"It is unusual," MacIntyre said. "Only a couple schools do it. I think it's a phenomenal idea the way we do it. In the summer, the kids throw on their own and do all that. So we just take them through a segmented practice kind of like how you'd like to do it."

Very interesting. Outside the box thinking and I like it. Not sure that the extra practice is a huge deal, but I like that he's looking at things like this, and has developed a plan for using it effectively.

After the last few years, the trajectory this program has taken :)saythat:), everything should be in play.I like.

Considering the complete dog's breakfast that the former coaching staff made of the spring game in 2012, any change would be welcome, but this sounds like an innovative and excellent idea.

I liked HCMM's explination for having one practice after the spring game. There is no confusion that the spring game is no more than just another step in preparation for the upcoming season... the spring game is not an end. Setting conditions for success of the summer work is a good path to increased productivity.

I also like the idea of using the after spring game session to "practice" how they will self assess after a game. Makes sense to me.

I really like this idea of immediate reflection. I think it's way more affective to reflect on the spring game the very next day. I hope it's beneficial!

Also, I hope the 2013 Spring Game is actually a GAME, not an awkward practice with cones on the field like last year.

WWABNBCSCD? .............................................................What would a big name BCS coach do?

This is brilliant strategy until our first bad loss, then we'll blame this decision...standard fan protocol, right?

Interesting. Of course all that really matters is Ws, so if this helps in that regard, cool.
