1 rushing TD in 5 games

Our OL is atrocious. PowPow is not getting it done in the red zone. No threat by a tight end. No threat of QB running it in.

It will POP this weekend...
 
[Zombie voice] What did you expect from the rushing game? We knew that MacIntyre had a huge talent gap going into this season. He is an improvement over the last staff. Be patient. He is a respected coach and will get this turned around. [/standard answer]
 
Has anyone ever seen a back make nothing out of something better than Tony Jones? I swear he always looks like he is about to make a play then runs through the wrong hole, refuses to cut back or just runs into his blockers. The guy has no instinct back there, which is a shame because he is fast.
 
If we had a functional line we'd be a much better offensive team. We have competitive talent otherwise...

HCMM said during the presser that most of the run plays are designed as a QB read that gives the QB an opportunity to run the ball if it doesn't look like it's there for the RB. Reading between the lines, it sounds like this played a significant role in Sefo getting the nod. Wood was not comfortable running the ball and it limited the offense.

Interesting. I remember them saying they will build the offense around the strengths of the players and not force people into roles like Embree seemed to. Did they abandon that principle? Maybe Connor was more comfortable doing that in practice?

They didn't force him into doing that. It limited the playbook. Sefo will limit it in other ways since you don't want to make things too complicated for a true frosh, but it looks like with him having the ability to both run and play from the pocket that Lindgren & Mac2 will be able to open up the entire offensive package.

Teams knew Connor (a) would almost always hand it off, and (b) had no juke if he kept it.... Nonetheless, seems to me Connor never kept the ball after the first drive or two. Basically, he would stop reading the play. Yeesh.

My guess is that CW was told after OU and OSU he was on a short leash. Going 11-34 and 12-34 with 4 int's and 2 td's will do that. When he rolled out a 0-4 start peppered with a pick, I think HCMM saw he was not making progress, and was, in fact regressing as the stakes got higher.

That is a shame because I had high hopes for CW. He very much looks the part of a BCS caliber QB and throws a beautiful deep ball. That is something CU hasn't had in a long while.

HCMM said that Wood had a "losing grade" in 4 straight games. This goes back to Central Arkansas.

Well then, there you go....HCMM demands results or the next guy is going to take your spot....that is how it should be IMO.

I'd like to see some more out of this offense. With the exception of a few trick plays, the play calling seems uninspired to me. SJSU was much more interesting to watch.

Option football without an actual option happening looks uninspired.

Problem from my observation of the last few weeks is that was all he looked for. When the defense didn't give up the deep throw, he left himself no options and that too many times led to turnovers.

Sefo, was able to hit the quick passes that CW seemed unwilling or unable to make on a consistent basis; didn't take what the defense was giving him

Oliver is not getting the credit due to him. He has really been good. Remember when we had that bad ass that went like 0-16 or something like that? he was so bad? how bad was he? the coach turned his back on him.
