I'm hoping for a good bowl too and will support the team regardless, but a year ago today, weren't we told:

we had a great offensive line
we had great running backs
we had great DBs
we were going to win a lot (10 said some)?

The national pundits are mostly saying we are nothing sepcial - B12 dregs. Our media, the coaches and players say we look real good.

I can't wait for kickoff, but it's hard to tell what's coming.

Thats why its fun to have this game first on the schedule, never know what to expect.

Don't forget wide recievers. Simas and Simmons were supposed to be the help Cody needed so he wouldn't have to throw to McKnight all the time.

This year Clemmons and Patterson are the cavalry.

Simmons was a JC transfer and barely got on the field because he couldn't learn the offense fast enough, or so we were told. But now I'm supposed to believe that Patterson, who just transfered and set foot on campus 6 weeks ago, is going to be an integral part of the offense. :rolling_eyes:

It's a total head versus heart thing.

Here's how CU is different this year.
The Darrell Scott and JFly drama is gone.
The Cody Hawkins or Tyler Hansen drama is gone.
Kiesau and Johnson have one more year of continuity.
CU has a WR coach and more receivers than Ebner, Espinosa and McKnight.

CSU has a freshman QB, and a less experienced OL.
CSU will be run-first. CU's D-Line and LB's weren't great last year, but did get better at run defense as the season wore on.

The chip is not on CSU's shoulder this year. That Lammie dance on Ralphie was an enduring memory. This may or may not help CU come into the season opener ready to play.

There's not much reason to believe that CU will have better special teams. The main difference in 2010 is that CU has a new long snapper to accompany a new punter. But CU kept it's unreliable FG kicker.

The mind says CU's experience will pay off. The heart remembers last year's heartbreak.

But saddest of all is how far the State of Colorado has fallen in D-1 football. When both schools are coming off 3-9 seasons, it's clear that Utah, Arizona and Idaho breeds better football in the Rocky Mountain region. This game is really just a front range pillow fight with no implications on the Mountain time zone, let alone the nation.
