Previously committed to Boise State, but he was let out of his LOI after a coaching change and the offers have been rolling in. Visiting CU this week.

Arrowhead High coach Craig Haase on Mills: “The great thing about Ben is that he works hard every time he takes the floor, whether college scouts are watching him or if he is in the gym by himself. People who notice that are then willing to offer him because they see that he is going to continue to get better. Ben knows where he is at as a player and knows where he wants to be and that drives him every day to work on his skills and strength.”

Wow, Boyle and crew arent jerking around that's for sure. Like alot of guys we are looking at, including this one. Not worried about his weight right now, has plenty of frame to fill out.
 
Lets just put him on a steady diet of meat and potatos while living in the weight room for the summer, and he should be good to go. But my question is, he is from Wisconsin, I thought they are all corn fed up there, must just be the ladies.
 
Could be metabolism I guess or when he stopped growing. My cousin went from about 6' to 6'6 in a matter of months, was wierd, his weight caught up but it took awhile before he filled out. 7'1 and has nice numbers, like he can score and rebound we need it.
 
there is no way this kid is from wisconsin, everyone I know from there eats at least 4 pounds of cheese per day.
 
Kid looks physically very young, has the face of a jr. high kid. With all the growing he has done he may have a metabolism that burns energy like a rocket. Looking at him he could put on 30-50lbs easy once he matures a bit.

I am glad to see Boyle in on some of these kids with some size. They may not be McDonald all-Americans but if he can develop some inside presence to go with the wing players we have the future could be bright. If we get this kid and the kid from Texas they could work against each other in practice and develop even faster.
 
I don't think we need McDonalds All Americans for big men. We need guys who can give fouls and get some rebounds.
 
It has to be more than just being able to give fouls and get rebounds. We need a true low post presence. A guy who can get physical on both ends of the floor and brings an attitude. Part of the issue this last season was not only were we undersized, but we lacked the guys that were willing to mix it up down low. Way too many times the other team would have three guys down low with a chance to get the rebound and we would have one guy at best.
 
These are the types of big men that Utah rode to a Final Four. You develop these guys and pair them with athletic 1s-4s and you've got yourself a dangerous team.

More offensive game and better passers based on their profiles. More highly recruited, too. But we won't know until we see them compete.
 
Edit: Mills is at CU and visiting until Friday. Ringo teased the title of the Scout article. Hopefully that means he knows something.

Mills joining Buffs?

Ringo actually said that Mills "has his sights set on the Buffs". Cross your fingers. I think we're going to get a commitment here.

Mills had other ideas. The 7-foot-1 center scored 10 points in the third quarter as Arrowhead used an inside-outside game to overwhelm the Spartans (23-5). The Warhawks made 11 of their 14 shots from the floor, including four from 3-point range.

Mills deserves part of the credit for that. He finished with three blocks and altered several other attempts by the Spartans, a team full of slashers.
“I hope that people after the last three days can now appreciate Ben Mills,” Arrowhead coach Craig Haase said. “I still don’t think he gets enough credit. It’s a crime if he’s not a first-team all-state guy.”

One shining moment Arrowhead wins state basketball title


Arrowhead coach Craig Haase has repeatedly called 7-foot big man Ben Mills a "once-in-a-lifetime player." Thanks to a renewed focus on getting Mills involved in the offense - not to mention torrid 3-point shooting - the Warhawks achieved a once-in-a-lifetime accomplishment Saturday.
Mills hit 8 of 9 shots, finished with his third double-double of the WIAA tournament, and the Warhawks shocked a star-studded Madison Memorial team in the second half, rallying from behind to post a stunningly one-sided 72-51 victory in the WIAA Division 1 state championship game at the Kohl Center in Madison.
The Warhawks won their first state title in school history.
