Deaysean is supposedly Doug's cousin. He's going to have an offer list a mile long, judging by the early looks and his film (#11). He had 77 tackles with 7 sacks as a junior.

Rippy impressed again. This time at the Badger Elite 7-on-7 in Pittsburgh.

LB DEAYSEAN RIPPY
6-2/198 McKees Rocks (Pa.) Sto Rox
It will surprise no one that Rippy is on this list, but it is not always easy for the highly-touted prospects to be recognized because they are under more scrutiny than lesser known prospects. It took just one game, however, for Rippy to seal his spot among the top performers. From the instant he steps on the field, all eyes turn to the Pennsylvania linebacker, and he delivers with superb athleticism, speed and feel for the game of football.

So far we are struggling to bring in the difference makers. A group full of 3 star players isn't going to get us into the Top 25 but I will say this until I am blue in the face. If you can hit on your QB you will consistently go to bowl games. All you need in college is a QB who is going to be very good and the rest of the team should fall in place. You miss on your QB and you are looking at 3 win and 5 win seasons.

I agree with that in a sense, I know what ur saying. Im kinda old school so bear with me. I think u build your lines as strong as possible, build inside out if you will. Gotta have some speed at the skill positions and u have a nasty team. As far as the qb, he has to have it upstairs. Im not gonna say it's more important than talent but it's up there. Ive read about Kordell ****ting the bed against Nebraska and rightfully so. Your qb has to lead and have everyone follow. I dont think ur accurate as far as a bunch of 3 stars, that should be the talent base. A roster full of 3 stars and a few 4 and 5's sprinkled in make a damn good roster imho. I think Dillon is a huge pickup, there any reason u think he isnt? if so, share please.

I'd say hitting the other teams' QB repeatedly is what translates into bowl appearances.

Nope, I like the Dillon get and I am very excited about what he can do for CU. I hope he helps make my point where you can have an average recruiting class with a very good QB and by the time they are SR's you are looking at a Top 25 program. That is what I am shooting for at this point. I think in college the QB play is far more important than any other position. If you are weak at QB you have to be elite at all other aspects of the game to be a top program. I don't see CU getting elite athletes or lineman currently so we have to bank on Dillon at this point.

IMO....the next most important aspect of college football behind QB play is scheme. You can make an average athletic team a good team if you have a great scheme. I also rest my hopes in that from Embree and Co.

As football is evolving the QB is getting even more important.

If you can have a solid scheme and an above average QB you can beat some teams that have overall more talent than you do and move up in peoples minds. At the same time if you can nuetralize opponents outstanding QBs with a solid rush then you can accomplish the same thing.

The question is now can Dillon become a difference maker and can we develop some guys who can put opponents QB on their butts. If so, the rest of the program will follow on an upward path.

Florida wouldn't accept his commitment at this time. I asked him in a rivals chat re: CU and he said Doug Rippy was talking us up and he would have to look into CU. PC answer imo. But, said he would make a commitment sometime soon and he was planning to be an EE

Does that mean they offered then bailed?

Florida lock based on the rivals chat imo. They'll accept his commit sometime

Could mean they have one or more they like better than Rippy? Might be wrong on that but makes sense.

Guys who narrow to a top ten just seem high-maintenance. Cut the list to 5 or fewer and then go public buddy.

So Doug looked pretty fing good against Cal, I think he has a bright future here. Does this have any sway? I hope so. Any other news on Deaysean?

Not really. Indications are that he has moved on from Florida instead of holding out for them and is pretty much wide open now. It can't hurt that Doug has such a close relationship with Coach Cabral and that he's absolutely killing it this year. We need to get some wins, though. Elite players are rarely going to commit to teams that are struggling.

I still don't think we have much of a chance here. This kid would have a decent chance at starting as a RS Freshman for us if he doesn't RS he would be in our 2 deep as a true fresh and get significant time on the field.
