In addition to the reported grad transfer offers, Ibe sent out tweets today mentioning CU and KU. Possibly some other schools involved. Looks like he's visiting ISU this weekend.

ShaDon and Chidera recruiting for CU.

Some info on him from one of the boards:
Ibe started 26 games for Rice during his career making 42 stops including one tackle for loss. Ibe received early offers from Georgia Tech and Iowa State. The Mansfield product started at Rice since his freshman season.

Here's one of the posters on the main Rice fan board:
RE: JT Ibe- graduate transfer
He's the best player on defense. Big loss.

It's possible they decided to go after Ibe after Tucker and Wallace were out of the picture, but I'm not sure people appreciate the kind of "all-in" mentality MM is taking to the 2018 season. I think we're going to see the most attrition over the next few months that we've seen under MM.
Fair enough. All the speculation to this point has generally been three additional players signed after the December signing period. With McMillan giving his verbal and with Tchangam likely (my opinion) that would leave only one spot. However, attrition could be much higher as you point out.

With the team missing out on Tucker and Wallace is this plan B?
I think this is more an issue of depth at Safety that became more worrisome with Maddox needing shoulder surgery and, I would expect, significantly limited this spring.

Moreover, this is just a very good player who has proven it in D1 and would make us better. Great thing about grad transfers is that they help you win now without compromising recruiting because they don't impact the number of slots you have for the next recruiting class.

One thing I like with Ibe in particular is that he's smart. Had a bunch of Ivy League opportunities out of high school and then graduated from Rice in 4 years with all the additional responsibilities of an athlete. I have no doubt he'll pick up the scheme and responsibilities in the defense very quickly.

If he came to CU would he supplant one of Worthington or Fisher? Would he be the Buff backer allowing Taylor to redshirt?

Not Worthington.

Either Fisher or, if Taylor's not ready to start, being the guy who starts next to Fisher with Worthington playing Buff. I also think that there's a good chance that it's Fisher or Worthington who would be our best player in Nickel instead of one of our CBs.

I like Fisher at Nickel, he's got some range and burst to him!

This would also possibly allow Maddox to redshirt and gain some weight and get healthy.
