According multiple outlets including Christian High School coach George Whitfield, Colorado has received a verbal commitment from 2012 4* QB Shane Dillon. Dillon, a 6'5 185 pound quarterback, is currently ranked #227 overall in the Rivals top 250 for 2012. He has known offers from Arizona, Ohio State, Florida State, Cincinnati and Vanderbilt.
Jon Embree and the Buffs staff have been aggressive in the early recruiting season and it is paying off. With Tyler Hansen graduating after the 2011 season, the Buffs had a gapping hole at quarterback for the years to come with Nick Hirschman and Brent Burnette unproven at the division one level. The sell job to Dillon must have been if you early enroll next January, you will have a great chance to be the starting quarterback for the 2012 season.
The list of offers and the early rivals rankings has to get Buff fans excited. It has been almost a decade since Colorado landed a quarterback with as high of rankings and with the offers Dillon possesses. The last four star QB the Buffs received a commitment from was Bernard Jackson in 2003 and he had nowhere near the offers Dillon has. Whether you believe in rankings or not, offers speak volumes and Dillon's offers suggest many elite programs thought he could be a good one.
One of the big issues during Dan Hawkins tenure was sub par consistency at quarterback. Without a doubt, the quarterback position is the most important on the team (look at the last few national champs to validate that) and Colorado hasn't had that playmaker or that difference maker in a long time. Hopefully Dillon can fill that void.
Scott Kennedy of scout.com says this about Dillon:
In his junior season at El Cajon Christian he threw for 2.982 yards and 19 touchdowns. We will have more to come on Dillon later

Scott Kennedy of scout.com says this about Dillon:
Dillon is a tall, thin quarterback that has a quick release and a live arm. Despite his lack of size, he shows toughness and the ability to stand tall in the pocket, release the ball, and take a hit. He has good footwork and is an adequate runner. He doesn't have a rocket for an arm, but because of his release, the ball arrives quickly. Needs to take less chances when he's under pressure as he'll throw into traffic at times - Scott Kennedy.
