Color me ignorant... but now w/ a clean slate in front of us... my 2 cents is in order for us not to lose out a year or two on recruiting... the university needs a HC that has some serious ties to success and is truly a HC, one that can coordinate and succeed at the many moving parts all under the microscope of CU football.... I would like to propose an interim HC for a year or two w/ the full knowledge that they would be putting in place a system and culture of football success and w/ a protege in the wings... I say either bring back Coach McCartney or Coach Simmons back for this transition period.... just an opinion, but both these men have amazing success and history to when Colorado Football was the bomb....

Hell no.

This is a joke right?

First, thank you for not having Dave Logan on this list.
Second, please add Kalani Sitake (Asst. HC and DC at Utah).

From Ted Miller's blog on P12 assistants who are ready to be HC's: Sitake has a few things going for him. For one, it's become clear that he can coach the heck out of a defense. Second, he has risen through the ranks at Utah learning from Kyle Whittingham, one of the nation's best coaches. Third, some AD at some point is going to go: "If we hire a native Tongan, I wonder if that might help us recruit the thousands of Polynesian athletes who scatter across the college football nation annually?"

Star Lotulelei would have looked better in Black and Gold than Red, IMO. Sitake recruits Samoa, Tonga, Hawaii, Los Angeles, and Florida.

Let's go get Les Miles. He has CU ties, and would bring instant credibility. He would excite recruits, and unite the base.

Can we get Golden added to the Profile Index? I didn't know much about him until now. Took a winless Temple team to 9-4 Mac east division co-champs over a few years. Pretty impressive.

Kirby Smart is on that list. He might not be familiar with Cali, but that would help with recruiting in the south. That would be awesome

Should someone add Golden?

That's the best name I've heard since Strong declined.

Add Mack Brown to the list.

Yuck! He's overrated as all hell. Good recruiter (but part of that was obviously because he's coaching at the flagship university in one of the nation's recruiting hotbeds)...but not a good Xs and Os guy. We used to call him "Barbeque Brown"...he'd get those recruits down to Austin...corner them at a BBQ, put his arm around their shoulder and say "Now son...You're going to sign with Texas now, aren't you?" with a big grin on his face...

I know we are feeling a little desperate right now, but Brown's exactly the sort of guy who wouldn't do well with the specific coaching challenges we all know CU has compared to a lot of other schools...

Brown would be Fairbanks 2.0

I would take Mick McCall or Dan Mullen from that list. They are both from The Cradle of the Spread Offense, Central Ohio. They both seem to do more with less and that is what we'll have for some time, less. Advantage for McCall over Dan Mullen, strong recruiting ties to the local area. Either would be a solid choice in my book though.
