The madness of spots 3-8 is already in full swing with Cal beating Washington. It's going to be chaos.

Is Utah really #10 in the nation good? I am happy they are playing well as our travel partner, making the swing of the two mountain schools much more work, but surprised they are all the way up to #10.

We are in 1st place in the Pac! Way to go Tad. The conference can be the start of a news season for us.

Still in 1st place.

Utah crushed UCLA today, 71-39.

Cal's in a war with Wazzu in Berkeley right now. At 17 min & change, 31-30 Wazzu in the 2nd half (24-20 Wazzu at half).

UA looking strong early against ASU.

I am going with the naive belief we tired UCLA out for Utah. I should be able to hold on to that until about 7pm Wednesday.

Cal's home loss to Wazzu was a gift to us in the conference standings. That's going to haunt them all year.

Saw a stat, dating back to last year. Since the start of conference play in 2014, teams are 1-9 on the 2nd leg of the Mountain trip swing. We may not have tired UCLA out, but the altitude probably did.

How in the world is Utah number 10 in the country?

They haven't beaten anyone to be worthy of that ranking IMO.

THey already lost to SDSU and Kansas and barely beat Wichita state at home (who isn't nearly as good as last year), and they get a number 10 ranking. Utah is good no doubt, probably playing better than anyone right now in the Pac 12, but I don't think they are top 10 good, probably more like top 20 good.

Great start for the Buffs, but we need to translate our home success to the road. That's been Boyle's biggest weakness. Tremendous home team and mediocre to bad road team. If we are just mediocre on the road, we can definitely finish top 4 in the conference.

I'm starting to think my pooh-poohing of Utah was incorrect.

They beat the **** out of UCLA.

That Austrian center they have is really good. Very quick feet and good post moves. Put another shrimp on the barbie!

UCLA played inside-out tonight. That's what I was saying they had to do. I really like their starting 5 and think they'll beat some folks as long as they run the offense through Looney and Parker... and slow things down some to compensate for not having a bench.

There were a total of 6 teams (AZ, ASU, Cal, Stanford UCLA and Utah) which did not lose any games on the back half of home pairs last year. Two teams (Colorado & Oregon) only lost one, and even Oregon State only lost 2. For the 2nd games of road trips last year to: Arizona: 0-9, Bay Area 0-9, CO/UT 1-8 as you mentioned. Only horrible USC & WSU failed to protect their home court in 2nd games. Losing the 2nd game is a lot more common than you might think, and I don't think it has much to do with tiring a team out, but rather with 20 year-old kids on the road for multiple days.

The 2nd game advantage was not so pronounced back when the games were in their traditional Thursday/Saturday schedule. Now, in some cases teams play the dreaded Wednesday/Sunday schedule. Ridiculous.
