Didn't see a thread for this, and it is about that time of the year.

Bama wants Gregg Marshall.

I have no idea why he'd take that job. Unless they pay him Saban money. Which I guess is plausible. It's Bama.
 
Herb Sendek fired from ASU.

I can't stand him or his program, but they over-achieved this season. Kind of a bull**** firing imho.
 
Why would Gregg Marshall leave WSU? He's built a perennial tournament program and is king at that school. He and the basketball program would play second fiddle to the football program at Alabama. He was on Jim Rome yesterday and compared his situation to Mark Few at Gonzaga; A small school basketball power.

Call me crazy-but would a little change after a year like this past one be a bad thing? I like Pri (I think we all do), and I'd love to see both him and Rohn get their shots, but him leaving may not be the worst thing in the world.

Nope, I think it'd be good for the program to have a small mixup in the coaching ranks. We've got three CEO's right now with Tad, Rohn, and Jean. Obviously Tad isn't leaving, but I expect and want one of the other two to leave and take the promotion.

Damn. Was hopeful that he'd end up back at his (and my) alma mater. Random trivia, back when Musselman was with Golden State, the University of San Diego had the most head coaches in the NBA, Musselman, Mike Brown, and Bernie Bickerstaff. I never said any of them were good NBA coaches.

ASU now going after Bobby Hurley. That name scares me dramatically more than Capel does.

Bobby's dad was an incredible high school coach. Bobby was one of the best college PGs I've ever seen.

Pretty much the blueprint for a guy being a great college coach. If I was an AD with a HC opening, Hurley would be at the top of my list.
 
Anyone with a pulse at Texas would be scary.

I've discussed this with JG before, but Texas might be the best job in the nation. First off, you're going to have unlimited money for whatever you need. They literally will hand you a check that says this:

Secondly, you're in a state that has tons of good recruits who all want to play for you. Finally, you're at a football school so the idiot fans will mostly leave you alone. At Kentucky, you lose a game and people freak out. At Texas, they'll pay more attention to spring ball.

USC is a football factory....plain and simple....in my opinion they are the reason there has been no real worry about LA not having professional football....because they actually do they just mask it as a NCAA team

Anyone who can get the most out of the talent UT can attract would be scary. Texas can recruit with KU. The team they had this year was Final Four caliber from a talent standpoint.

If or when they get a basketball-friendly venue after their current multipurpose cave gets the wrecking ball it could be more conducive to building a basketball culture. There is not Kentucky pressure but the program remains an also-ran which can recruit lights out in years yet still never get big crowd interest until it's clear they are fielding a team that could potentially go to the Final Four. Outside of a half dozen years since 2002 the enthusiasm has been lackluster. The premier basketball job at a football school still has more appropriate hoops facilities and fan interest than I have ever seen at Texas.

I agree with everything you said, but don't you think this is exactly why this is the best job in the nation? They target a top name and they do a BZ and want to tie facility improvements into their contract.......Texas doesn't blink an eye.
