They are still loaded with talent.

What's gonna get them this year is having 69 scholarship players at this point, pre-injury. And with their schedule backloaded I think the 2nd half of the season is going to look bad. They really can't afford an injury anywhere.
 
OK St is 19 - everyone else shifts down one to make it a top 25, not a top 24.

Thanks for typing it in manually - that took some work.

Stanford isn't even projected to win the conference, and yet they are top 10 with Washington in the teens.
 
Pre-season polls are there to show how little the voters know. They don't even know what they have on their teams and in their conference. The rest of the country, zero.

Lots of the coaches have some assistant in the athletic department make their votes with a nod to making their conference look good and maybe throwing some votes at friends in other schools.

Top of the poll is just reputation.
