I’ve shared before that I attended the 2015 game. It is a bucket list kind of experience and the best sporting event I’ve ever seen in person. The atmosphere of this event is second to none. I highly encourage you to consider attending some day, even if you have no attachment to either side.

I love hating on academy grads as much as anyone but this intro by CBS is worth a few minutes of your time.

Go Navy! Beat Army!

Best game of the year to watch. How hard will it be for Danielson not to do any Alabama cock chugging during the game?

Great game to watch.

Not a lot of scoring but fun to watch a game between triple option teams. Made even better because since both teams play it both practice against it all season long.

Also while these guys aren't freak athletes they are all in great shape including the linemen and they are all very intelligent. Just a very different game to watch.

I will say Army has a couple dudes on d that look like they could play anywhere.

I think Army will pull away in the 2nd half. The fb dive is working, and if not for some drops/mistakes they’d be up by more right now.

GO ARMY!!! **

I was a lifelong Navy fan from the time of Joe Bellino.

And then my older brother became a Naval Aviator in the Vietnam era.

But then I have two grand-nephews (my brother's grandsons) who recently graduated form West Point (2015 and 2018).

So blood being thicker than water** ... GO ARMY!!!

** see what I did there? Thicker than water? Navy? Ships float on what? Oh never mind.

One of the best sports books I've ever read is "A Civil War" by John Feinstein. It's about the Army/Navy rivalry. It centers on one season in the mid 1990s for each program and ends up
with the big game. You can't put it down.

I don't have any rooting interest in this game but every year I find myself pulling for the underdog, especially when Army had that long losing streak. Good to see a competitive game today.

I like both of them, Air Force too. Just from an Army family, so that's who I root for.

Haven't heard of that one, sounds like a good read.

Under. Easy money
I was thinking about you when the game was 17-10. If Navy gets that onside kick at the end and scores a TD, total score would be 34. No way you stay under 40 if that game ends up in OT. I bet your breathed a sigh of relief when Army recovered that one at the end.

Yep. Easy, but never easy.

Not sure how to feel about academy grads going to the NFL. I read an article about the rules re: service vs. NFL opportunity, sounds a little controversial. On one hand, they’re training first (and at taxpayer expense) to be military officers, on the other hand, we do need reserve officers too (I reckon?)...the academies are a little different from nongovernmental colleges...

I thought there was a way to defer service commitment but that it came with some other penalties, mostly financial. Do you have a link to the article?
