This will be interesting to watch. The team is performing better than I thought but I think the Big 12 is going to expose every weakness and these rankings will not matter in the end. nIT or nothing is my guess

Just get these last 2 non-con games. There have been plenty of head shaking moments, but overall they've taken care of business and also managed to get an upset.

This team is really fun to watch, I think that once the bench shortens up a little bit, they can beat some teams that we are not favored against. Many of these guys would have been huge last year, especially Malone and Andrej. Very proud of Julian's offseason work, and Diop and Dak are slowly growing into the studs that they can be

OP updated. I didn't put in the NET ranks and Quads yet. I might not do that until Xmas once all the non-conference games are pretty much done and we're into conference play.

Once they moved the NIT finals out of the Garden, they were dead to me.
For the most part, the people who watched the NIT were basketball junkies and then the fans of the teams that were in the NIT. They then pissed off all the basketball junkies who love the history of the NIT to appeal to... the fans of the 11th best team in the SEC? Such a shame that they've essentially killed it for no real good reason.

I'm not following what you're getting at with the bolded

The NIT took away auto bids for small conference regular season champions that didn't win their post season tournament in order to get more middling to crappy power conference teams in. That's not explicitly what their new selection criteria says, but it's what is going to happen.

How spots do you think the Big 12 gets in the NCAAs? 8?

NET this morning:

8 Houston
9 Iowa State
17 Kansas
28 Baylor
30 Cincinnati
31 Texas Tech
34 Arizona State
39 West Virginia
45 Arizona

Rest are 60+ with the worst being KSU at 103. No such thing as a bad loss in the Big 12 this year, so I think we'll at least maintain having 9 on the right side of the bubble. Could improve, but it would be hard for the math to result in fewer from this starting position. Big 12 isn't as good as I'd thought it would be this year, though.

that is bunk.

I love the excitement of conference tourneys, but there's no doubt winning the regular season is a more difficult task and should have some reward.

I'm bummed to learn this.

100%

If our Buffs won a Big 12 tournament, it would be one of the best fan weeks of my life. It would definitely be meaningful and it would have to be a damn good team in order to do it.

But a regular season Big 12 title would be on a completely different level. That would mean our Buffs were among the elite programs in the nation that season. Much bigger deal.

Thankful for the CBC. NIT home games are depressing.
I Guess If You Say So GIF

Four of our road games are against the teams below us. I would take that as a good sign but I have too many memories of playing at Cal to be confident.

When a top 25 zona is the 6th best team in your conference. Wow

CU did their part to help the XII, going 9-2 in non-conf play and beating all the teams we were supposed to.

The SEC is the SEC of basketball this year.
The Big 12 is actually better than it was last year, when it was the best league in America. Net KP rating of +17.19 this year, compared to +16.66 last year.

The Damn SEC, however, doesn't have a single team outside the top-65, 11 in the top-40, and is +20.11. No league has finished with a net rating over 20 since the ACC in 2004. Still plenty of ball to be played, however.

Couldn't have told you who the #1 ranked team in the country was. Figured the way people were talking about the Big 12 that my statement was accurate, but I retract.
Honestly, the SEC has kind of snuck up on people this year. It’s not just you. I knew they’d be good but wasn’t expecting the historic numbers @RumblinBuff posted above.
