Not sure how it is a head scratcher. The Utes have had a steady string of studs at the position including a recent high draft pick. CU well...they haven't, and the new offense treats the position like a skinny tackle. Seems like a pretty informed decision to me.
Maybe it's time to find a skinny, athletic tackle.

Then why did they recruit Seydou Treore so hard? Why are they looking at lighter TE’s that can be receiving mismatches? Still not sure what happened with Traore, but maybe he just didn’t have it.
It's been stated several times. Brewster needs a TE who can block, first and foremost. Traore was very small, very bad at blocking.

Likely told he'd be dead last in the depth chart if he did t get bigger and improve as a blocker.

Brewster would love a guy who can do it all, but blocking is clearly what's going to get you in the field.

Point.

Suggests they want a guy who is a weapon in the pass game but also a willing blocker.

Thinking of how fast Lewis wants to go and CFB rules which can be taken advantage of, a TE who can play slot or in-line allows flexibility in formation & play calling without the need to sub personnel (which gives the defense an opportunity to sub).

My growing concern is that there are not a lot of complete TEs who put pressure on a defense in college football, let alone available in the portal. So I'm thinking we're going to end up settling for the Y TE limited player rather that a H TE who wouldn't give us as much as a WR when spread out anyway.

And, hell, if they can't find anyone they love we can always throw a ln eligible number on our most athletic OL for short yardage jumbo sets as needed.

Nik, having said all of that, any interest in Javon Antonio for a year? Another guy that’s going to come in around 225. I hate going into next year with three TE’s.
