Also, wasn’t Jaylon Jackson a consensus 4* before the second knee injury? Not that I blame them for dropping him in the rankings but I believe he was. Edit: I remember he was definitely a 4* on Scout/247 because the local writer admitted that it hurt him to see Jackson drop to a 3* but they didn’t have any choice.

And Chris Miller and Nate Landman were so obviously better than their rankings that it was offensive they never got late bumps. Them being mentioned as difference makers already should surprise no one. Stanley and Antwine have 4* offer lists and had them most of their recruiting cycles.

Don't forget Laviska was downgraded from a 5.8rr to a 5.6rr based on pretty much nothing. Good call by Rivals. I thought Scout had him as a 4-star before the merger though.

for those of us who no longer follow recruiting that closely, what's the difference between 247 and 247composite?

247’s score is their own recruiting site’s rating.

The composite is the sum of the 3 recruiting sites. Most people use the composite when discussing recruiting rankings, but most people who follow closely know to trust 247’s score most of all as ESPN is often a joke and Rivals seems to be trending that way.

Composite is an average of them and several outside sources. Not sure which ones.

I don’t think it’s the 3.

Surprisingly. Just short of it on all the sites.

Same thing with Tony Brown. I thought I had remembered both of them being 4* at one point in the recruiting process, but I guess it didn't hold.
Nixon in HS was more versatile than Shenault, DeSoto's 16 success wouldn't have been possible if either wasn't on the field at the same time. Most 6A schools here have more than one 4* on the roster that achieve a state title.

I have no idea how ESPN arrives at their rankings. Dylan Thomas has some potential, but a 4*? Stenstrom?

Thanks Nik for the analysis. Surprising and impressive w so many 4* players.

Mac better have a decent season this year if he wants to be here for what looks like could be a magical ‘19.

I don't even think they have regional analysts, so its almost as if they just hear something from someone and go off that. I feel bad for anyone who actually pays for that.

You get it with all vip access to the ESPN site as well as subscription to ESPN the magazine for just $40 a year. I like having it.

I don't think Bish will ever be the featured back, but he is a great athlete and could do well if he gets more carries.
