5-7 teams going to a bowl game this year?

The NCAA has approved 35 bowl games this year, that means 70 teams need to be .500 or better, what if there aren't that many? The NCAA is discussing plans in the event that very scenario happens. Did the buffs bowl chances just get better? You have to figure CU would accept a bowl invite if we go 5-7 and one is offered, help get to that 6.8.

Pretty sad. Anyway, a low-tier bowl game would not help with the $6.8 million because those bowls typically are break-even propositions at best.

How sad this bowl **** has become, it really doesn't mean much anymore, unless its a bigger bowl. In the 80's and early 90's sometimes you didn't go bowling if you had 7 wins. It meant so much just to go to any bowl. And the real sad thing is it would mean so much for CU just to get back to a bowl again.

yep, and like I said, in the past sometimes 7 didn't get you in. In 1987, Colorado went 7-4, with three of their 4 losses to ranked teams (#19 Oklahoma state, #1 Oklahoma, and #5 Nebraska), and we still didn't go to a bowl.

The next year Colorado had 3 total losses in the regular season to those exact same teams and went to one of the lower tier bowls (Freedom) at the time. 8-3 now would land you in the Hoiliday probably.

Too many bowls I agree, and it is true that on the lower tier bowls with all the travel costs and everything, you typically break even. That being said, I enjoy the extra games since I will have to go months without football not too long after. In addition, that extra month of practice time is invaluable to the freshman in have more time to learn the system and get more reps.

And the mandatory ticket burden placed on the teams. If they didn't get that guaranteed money, some of these bowls would have worse attendance than a CSU game in late October.
