8/13 Scrimmage Report?

EB is a fiery mother****er. Good thing he was holstered up in the lift or he may have killed Jones.

Gonna need a little more than that! Lazy Bastard!
I didn't get to see much but I'll give a quick summary, I'm not too familiar with the roster numbers though.

QB: Hansen looked to be having some troubles hanging onto the ball. Schrock looked good for a walk-on true frosh.
RB: EB was about to be killed by EB if he was on the field. He got the majority of the yelling at him. Speedy got taken out a few times for missing an assignment and not taking it up field instead of dancing. DD Goodson is a shifty RB and will be a stud. Creer looks a little timid hitting the hole hard which is not a good thing but he is tough to take down.
FB: Not much to say here that I recall.
WR: McColluch had a few nice catches (one was in the back of the endzone and he tip toed for a score) although he did bobble one that ended up being picked. PRich is just a best out there; ****fy, catches everything thrown to him. Clemons looked alright and I think he only dropped one today that I saw.
TE: Thorton had a few nice grabs for good gains, same with Deehan although he had a drop when he should have caught it. TE will catch some people off guard this fall and should be a good option when the D tries to double up PRich.
O line: First team looked good but the 2nd and 3rd team seemed to have some issues opening up holes for the RBs to run in.

I only really payed attention to the kicking game and if the offense could move the ball, not many of the finer things. D line looks to be solid out there and I really like the jumping to bat down the passes if they can't get to the QB. Nembot is a raw man child. I really loved the intensity of all the coaches and how competitive each side of the ball is. Not nearly as good of a write up as sliders I know.

Since you don't have a report on it, is that a bad thing?

I went, don't have much of a report as the kids got cranky.

Early on Hansen overthrew some guys. PRich broke loose for what would have been a long TD bomb, but Hansen overthrew him.

Our D-line looks big and athletic. The biggest I have seen here in a long time. Obi is a beast!

Sorry I don't have more, I'm sure someone else will

OK, this is my first shot, but I was there for the entire scrimmage.

QB: Hansen looked OK. Some great throws and some head scratchers. The really impressive QB to me was Schrock. Looked poised running with the 2s. Made some great throws. The others were meh.

RB: Speedy looked good. Had a great TD run breaking multiple tackles. Hit the holes and seemed to make the right cuts. EB was getting on him about PassPro. TJones also looked good. Made some good runs early in the scrimmage. EB was getting on him for pass pro and alignments. Josh Ford and DD were both eye opening to me. Josh ran hard and had a lot of success against the 3s. He was even able to make something out of blown blocking assignments. DD ran well, hitting the holes hard and making it to the 2nd level multiple times. He is gonna be a steal.

WR: Not much to say that hasn't already been said. PRich had a great diving TD catch and was explosive after the catch. Clemons was good. Logan Gray had a good catch and run for a TD on a slant. Spruce had a nice TD as well.

OL: A little unimpressive. Struggled against the 1st team, and didn't dominate the 2nd team.

TE: Thonton was a stud. Was the relief check for Hansen and really looked good. Had a catch where he literally threw Webb off him and ran for another 10. Deehan looked good as well. Slaven need to get in the weight room.

DL: Really looked dominant. Obi was all over the field. Kasa seemed to click. It seems he has accepted his role as a specialist and he made some great plays on both the inside and the outside. I really liked Hartigan. He showed some fire on the D and was the only one really jawing with the O.

LB: Kinda worried about Major. He made some great plays the first couple of series and than didn't see him again. I hope it's not an injury. Rippy and Webb were uneventful. The real bright spot was Daigh. He is a stud in the making. It's obvious that he is not physically there yet, but you can't tell by how he plays. Dude lays the wood. Played with the 1s after Majors absence.

DBs: Happy with their play. Henderson looked good, along with Vigo. Orms was a no-show. Nothing other than that.

Over all, it's tough to judge, playing each other. I think our D-Line will dominate Hawaii. I am counting down the days. Go Buffs.

Ah forgot about that. Castor is very inconsistent still while Oliver nailed just about every kick. Didn't see much punting but Grossnickle had a nice one to the right hash.

Glad to hear that Oliver is still looking good. I'm looking forward to the day that I can watch a CU FG try without an overwhelming feeling of dread. Man, I miss Mason.

After I saw Oliver nail a few I thought that to. Gonna be nice because he was money from what looked over 40 YDs although I didn't have a good vantage point being on the opposite side if the field.

QBs: Hansen struggled at times, but had some very nice touch passes, and spread the ball around well. No picks that I saw. Rest of them were meh at best. Shrock has potential, but was definitely overagrressive with his passes. The one to Tyler that got picked was not his fault, but it was still a jump ball. His 2d pick was a beautiful spiral into triple coverage. Short and sweet Dorman and Burnett citings.

RBs: Solid group. Speedy looked good, but not perfect assignment wise. He seems... calmer. Not as jittery in the back. I wish they would stop giving him so many carries in contact. We are gonna need him all year. Jones pissed off the coaches somethign fierce by failing to go upfield on 4th and 1, attempting to bounce it outside, and getting taken down. Didn't see him again. DD Goodson was very much effective. Hard runner for his size. Creer was there, but I don't see what he gives us that Ford doesn't. Hope he red shirts unless he brings something on special teams. Ford was great on pass blocking and runs damn hard. I like him a lot as our change of pace back this year. Lockridge was not playing.

WR's: Prich *1000. He was awesome, before, during, and after the catch. Nuff said. Tclem was physical and effective, but nothing spectacular. Tyler McC was pretty visible. He had that bobble, but also had a damn nice TD catch (that was out of bounds btw, but hey, refs called a TD). Spruce sighting! He had a great catch for TD out of the slot on a post route, made a nice juke and got Terror to crush the DB following him and get an easy TD.

TE's: Thornton is gonna be a star for us. If he gets hurt this year, we are gonna be in trouble. No other TE brings his athelticism to the table. Not a good day for Deehan on the receiving front. Couple drops and looked stiff. Slavin got CRUSHED by Nembot on a block. Saw an Allen sighting, but he dropped one as well as caught one.

OL: honestly, couldn't see them real well. LoS was a mess. Lots of good hitting. DL too. They look big, mean and angry.

DL: Again, couldn't see much. They were shuffling in the DL interchangeably with the 1 and 2 defense. Nembot is HUGE. Didn't see him out there a lot though, he's got a lot to learn. I could see him playing a lot later in the year though. In general, DL was winning the average running play. Every time speedy got yards, it was by making someone miss behind or at the LoS. Still broke some longer runs though. No huge holes were ever opened up.

LBs: Didn't see major. He was out by the time I got there. Lots of Webb hitting people hard (but bad form on tackles, Thornton threw him off for a big 3d down coversion). Never saw Mahnke (not sad about that). Daigh was there as well. Liked to be around the ball.

S: I arrived 40 mins late, and both polk and perkins were done for the day. I'm glad the coaches have the confidence in Polk that they don't think he needs the reps anymore... but wow, what a change. Harlos and Terror seemed to be running with the 2s. Terror was hitting hard. harlos was often around the ball, but didn't jump out at me.

CBs: Great day for Moten. He was the one who took the ball from Tyler McC. Got another great knockdown on a ball thrown to Darden. Nobody could cover Prich. nobody. He usually looked like he wasn't being covered. Sacky is gonna splooge all over himself this year. Not that this is unusual.

OVerall: very aggressive team on both sides. You can feel the aggressiveness and hate coming from both sides. The D flies to the ball. The CB's are right up on the WR's. Playaction was very effective. TE's a focal point.

Not sure I put anything new in thsi report, but it was fun to see us play! The new helmets are bad ass.

Don't freak out about Major. I think they know what they have there and are just giving younger guys some reps.

I hope you're right. He had a sweet play on a naked boot where he jumped up, tipped the ball, did a 180* before he landed and almost picked it. He could be All-Pac 12 if he stays healthy.

First time seeing the buffs since spring ball. Really impressed with freshmen

Shrock, Asiata, Daigh, Goodson, henderson, Mccolouch, and Spruce. Still a ways to go for them, but good early signs. Now to the sophmores, juniors and seniors, from what i saw , i expect Obi, Thornton, Rippy, Harrington, P Richardson, Tony Clemons, Speedy Stewart, Tony Jones to be key contributors this coming season. Our DL will dominate this year, the OL will be aggresive. I am pumped.

Excuse the formatting of this. I guess I timed out while writing it and luckily copied it. No time to clean it up.

I'll add a little. I was on the east side by the lift that EB was on. Guess they wanted to simulate him being in the press box. I'm absolutely positive EB is afraid of heights. He was holding on for dear life at first and he was standing like his sphincter was puckered. Didn't stop the f-bombs though.

Hansen was ok with a few nice passes. Twice as he was bringing his arm forward to throw the ball, the ball just popped out of his hand. I think Schrock has a lot of potential.

Prich = Stud. I was impressed with McCulloch and Spruce, a couple nice catches each. Clemons has some nice catches but nothing jaw dropping. Gray and Darden also.

Speedy showed some Barry Sanders moves. He wasn't getting a lot of holes but he picked up yards. Nice TD run. Jones was getting bitched at a lot but had a few good runs. DD is going to be good. Creer even had one nice run.

Deehan was wide open on a TD but dropped a few others. Bahr made a great catch across the middle and was instantly hit but held on. Thornton looked good on several plays.

Juda Parker seemed to get a lot of play. Nembot got less. Big dude. Kasa and Obi stood out.

Polk and Perkins really control the D, very vocal. I thought Henderson and Washington looked good.

Oliver kicked a bunch of 30 to 45 yard field goals. I can only remember him missing two...one from Aurora that didn't get to the end zone and one that barely missed. The D was going to have to run for letting the O score a TD so Embo set Castor up at about 47 and said if he made it, the D wouldn't have to run. He made it.

Each punter had two kicks. All were fair. Gross gets a lot of hang time.

The D dominated early. Even though several TDs were scored, I didn't think the O had a very good day in general.

I think there has been progress made but there is room for improvement.
