A depressing thought

SO far Hawkins coached teams looked much better on the road the Embree's teams.

A lot of times Hawks teams were at least competitive on the road (Georgia 06, Texas Tech 07, Baylor 07, Nebraska 08, Texas 09, Oklahoma state 09, Kansas 10). So far Embree's teams just look like they don't want to be there from the start in every road game. Soft as ****, play like a bunch of pussies that expect to lose right when they step out.

Hell even the bad teams like Hawai'i and UCLA we get blown away. It pains me to say this, but Hawks teams would have been more competitive in those games.

Oh and it's still Hawks fault!

One of the things that I would argue is that one of Hawkins biggest talent pools was our senior class last year. We had Nate, Jimmy Smith, Jalil, and Scotty. His recruiting was downhill from there leaving our current sophomore through senior class as a mix of baggage.

Some of that is Cody Hawkins.
CHawk has mad team leadership skills not native to Hansen.

Be careful! Remember how this board almost exploded when CH started in front of TH? Yeah, it is a shame that DH burned Tyler's RS. But even if he had another year, he would not likely be the starter next year IMO.

Sins of the father are often visited on the son.

It's shades of gray. Ultimately neither Cody and Tyler are capabile of winning records.

But Cody shouldn't be excluded in discussions about last year's seniors.

Ultimately, the greatest damage Cody's presence caused us was the damage it appeared to cause in recruiting top QB talent.

Agreed.

The Hawkins family story is a cautionary tale for any other college coach with a QB son.

I can't agree. Hawkins last team was pretty bad and it was clear the program was in a death spiral. This team, his team, would probably not be any better than it currently finds itself. It's sad.

Not going to defend Embree much for the road showings this year, but let's also remember Hawkins had his fair share of blowouts on the road as well:

NU in '06
ASU in '07
KSU in '07
FSU in '08
Mizzou in '08
Toledo in '09
Cal in '10
Mizzou in '10
Oklahoma in '10

And viewing last year's Kansas game as any sort of positive is laughable.
