A Gripe from the Texas Southern Game

Did anyone who went last night notice the crazy amount of photo strobes during the game? I remember them having a similar set up for the tourney game at the Pit, but I didnt think the flashes were nearly as frequent as last night. Anybody have any insight on whether or not to expect that for the rest of the year? I haven't noticed it at any other game in the past and it took me totally out of the experience. I started counting them it was bothering me so bad. There were 9 flashes in the first 39 seconds of the first half. Might have to bring sunglasses to the next game. Or drop my season tickets.

:violin:

Not really. But they were damn annoying. Just wanted to see if anybody else who went to the game had noticed them...

Since we are griping here, I was wondering about the whirly sign in the student section. Are those legal in college? I know they banned them in the NBA about 14 years ago after the Pacers fans were using them.

And whats with the queen of England?

Eh, my only gripe is with the ribbon boards. I'd like to see them put some occasional stats and scores from around the country in there. Not ads 100% of the time.. I've pretty much learned to fully tune them out, which can't be what the advertisers were after.

Wake Forest uses literally dozens of them, or they did up until 2010 before Bzdelik destroyed their program.

They’re legal. Noise makers like air horns are not legal. There is a fine art of Free Throw distraction.

Back at 'real' gripes - anyone else catch the fact that the possession arrows were out of sync between the scoreboards and the scorers table for quite a while before the Texas So. bench noticed?

On the other hand anyone notice Booker get sucked into one round of claps on the "Take his whistle" chant near the end of the game? I love that these guys are young, and still appreciate the crowds that are showing up.

I saw him clapping on TV but had no idea that's what he was doing. Probably not a good idea to show up the refs like that.

They survived the ultimate trap game with a young team probably looking ahead to the next 3 games and playing against a guy that went unconscious against them.

The deal where the students pound on the seats and then throw up their hands right as the guy is shooting seems to be very effective. I understand you don't want to use it the whole time, but that one really worked against AF.

We really need someone to dance in a gold banana sling. Nothing will ever be more distracting to a foul shooter.
